Also, I don't understand why the norton would still be running when I swore I uninstalled it already… is there a way I can check?

Hi That may just be remnants of Norton. Go ahead with combofix.

OK I think I'm ready to run the combo fix although when I click on the windows security it says my firewall is on, I go to the window to disable it and it shows it's already disabled. Just as the virus protection says it's enabled but there is no norton installed. I'm going to start this and see how it goes… keep your fingers crossed! I'm being totally optimistic!

OK, I started to run the combofix and it gave me this warning " The above realtime scanner(s) are still active but combofix shall continue to run. Kindly note that this is at your own risk" My question is Should I contact Norton and have them remove any leftover remnants that may be causing this to look like the virus protection is still active? Also The firewall says it's still activated but on the security center I have clicked disable. I'm confused.

I now have everything disabled but I noticed when i pulled up combofix the name has changed back to combofix.exe When I click on it there is no way to open the file to see if the name is svchost.exe but I know I saved it as that name because the first time I started to run it was named svchost.exe. Is this normal and is it ready to run this way or do I need to uninstall it? I actually looked to uninstall and reinstall just to be safe but I can't find any way to uninstall this program. It's not in the add remove and when I right click on that icon there is no option to uninstall it either. Please help!

Hi Just try running it. If it won't run, please right click it and click delete. Download a new copy with the rename instructions and try again.
