Hi courtney04, 1 please advise us the symptoms you are experiencing with your computer….. 2 also please advise when these symptoms occur 3 can you initiate the symptoms ocurring? 4 if so how? 5 are they connected with a particlar application starting up? 6 or do they start immediately on boot up? 7 if they start when you run a particular application please give its name 8 If you boot up in safe mode do the symptoms still occur?(be careful when running in safe mode especially with networking as if on the Internet your protections, anti virus, etc will not be running.) 9 do you use Internet Explorer? 10 if so, try running it ; 11 without add ons 12 in 32 bit mode mode (not 64bit) 13 when you have reset it to default. Post back and one of us will do our best to assist you As always make sure your back up/copy/archive is 100% up to date accurate, reproducible and with an extra copy kept safe on removable media, offsite, before you make any changes to your computer…once you have everything that is important to you on your machine (that you wouldn't like to lose) safely backed up in this way then you can be more relaxed about making system changes. Don't forget important emails, address books, contacts, serial numbers and product keys as well as your documents photos, music, videos etc. Regards paws
Hi -

Run the System File Checker - SFC - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833

I see several of the entries in your logs contain a 0xc0000005 exception = memory access violation. Not much doubt here the likely cause is McAfee Internet Security firewall.

I believe McAfee may be the primary culprit involved in your system freezes as well. You're running Windows 7 x64 SP0 with 1.75 GB RAM; you should have 4GB RAM. McAfee is a very heavy system resource intensive app and the last time I tested it caused my system to "pause" at times. My system = HP dv7-1020us; W7 x64 SP1; Intel P7350 Core2 Duo; 4 GB RAM

I noticed you do not have Windows 7 SP1 installed. Is there any particular reason? Has it shown itself to you in Windows Updates waiting to be installed?

Please check Windows Updates - www.update.microsoft.com

I usually find 3rd party firewalls tend to block Windows Service Packs from installing (Windows 7 & Vista).

See what the System Update Readiness Tool for Windows 7 x64 has to say about Windows Updates in general. Without SP1 installed, you should have about 150 hotfixes.

If the freezes continue, my recommendation is the remove McAfee using the McAfee Removal Tool - http://kb.eset.com/esetkb/index?page=content&id=SOLN146

Reboot upon completion. Install MSE - http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/security_es…ls/default.aspx

You can always reinstall McAfee if you wish.

Regards. . .
