So I checked if there were any viruses or malicious stuff using AVG Free Edition.

I am not sure if there is more left.

Please note that I just bought this used laptop and want to know if it is safe to use.

It also seems to be having a minor hardware issue regarding overheating, but I believe that can be improved by getting a cooler.

Without further ado, here is my HiJack This Log:

thanks for everything!!!
I just removed some unnecessary programs like Picasa 3. I just got like two blue screens from updating Daemon Tools Lite. I guess I should not update it. It will freeze in the midst of updating… What should I do?
Ohhh you did reply! I didn't notice. I didn't get any notification from my emails or this place. When I checked back before, I couldn't find it. Can we continue where you left off in the previous thread? Thank You.

The log that was produced after running ESET Online Scanner.
Hey Ken! Thanks! I just wanted to make sure that this laptop is not infected or has a root-kit virus because it had a lot of different programs and files when I purchased it. Since it was my friend's coworker, he did not go as far to format and wipe the laptop free of data so I want to see if the laptop is infected or not. As of right now, everything seems to be going smoothly except a few hindrances: 1) Overheating vents 2) The laptop crashes everytime I try to modify or remove Daemon Tools. So it's really peculiar that the laptop is emitting that behavior. Here's my MbAM log: Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware 1.51.2.1300 www.malwarebytes.org Database version: 7724 Windows 6.0.6002 Service Pack 2 Internet Explorer 9.0.8112.16421 9/15/2011 5:22:26 PM mbam-log-2011-09-15 (17-22-26).txt Scan type: Quick scan Objects scanned: 170284 Time elapsed: 5 minute(s), 30 second(s) Memory Processes Infected: 0 Memory Modules Infected: 0 Registry Keys Infected: 0 Registry Values Infected: 0 Registry Data Items Infected: 0 Folders Infected: 0 Files Infected: 0 Memory Processes Infected: (No malicious items detected) Memory Modules Infected: (No malicious items detected) Registry Keys Infected: (No malicious items detected) Registry Values Infected: (No malicious items detected) Registry Data Items Infected: (No malicious items detected) Folders Infected: (No malicious items detected) Files Infected: (No malicious items detected)
Overheating cant be good, if you would like I can link you to our hardware forum that can guide you through opening up the laptop and checking the fans or replacing them if need be.

Have you tried uninstalling Daemon Tools via safemode ?

Try this free uninstaller

http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninst…e_download.html

Have your tried to run ESET yet, be interesting to see the report
Hi Ken, So I ran the ESET Scan. No threats found!! :) It took awhile though hahaha - about 100 minutes ~ As for the Daemon Tools uninstallation, I finally uninstalled it!! I totally forgot about the safe mode haaha. Thanks for the insights! So does this all mean that my computer is clean and safe?
As far as I can see it looks fine. As far as those other problems with the heat and all, why dont you post here,

http://forums.pcpitstop.com/index.php?/for…r-to-user-help/

They can run you through a test to check your systems hardware, be sure to tell them you posted here and that no malware was found

Before you to lets clean up your system
