I am upgrading my old Dell Dimension 2400. I have already done a bit to it(dvd-rw, 1150gb hdd space, 1.5gb ddr ram, 450 watt psu, heat sink, new fans, case lights, etc…)
Anyway, i want to buy a video card for it because the 8mb integrated Intel 82845g chipset looks horrible.
Question……What video card would be the best for the price, noting that it only has a P4 2.53ghz cpu and 1.5gb ram?
I don't want too good of a card, because i don't want more than my pc will even use.
your help is much appreciated.
edit:- oops missed your last post.
from what i can find out about the dell 2400, it doesn't even have an agp graphics slot just pci slots.
so to be brutally honest if this is correct then i wouldn't even consider wasting any more money on it, just start saving for a new system.
Hi. As it seems you want to upgrade your computer you got lights new hdd … etc.
Now about the pci graphic cards there is probably that no pci graphic card that would use all of your computer resources or it would be extremely expensive ones.
So i suggest you get yourself a new motherboard that has agp or psi express slot and then get yourself a new used graphic card.
Now if want to do that and change only your motherboard you have to look for one that has the same cpu socket you got now, and same ram slots so you would not need to change anything else.
If you want price/performance i think it would be best solution.
