My son has a toshiba laptop he got for christmas. At first it worked great. Recently, however it locksup several minutes after booting up. It will stay locked up for up to 30 minutes or so, then start to work again. a meter on the desktop shows core 1 at 100% while ram is running at about 50% while it is locked up. after it starts to run again ram is about the same and core1 drops off to around 50%. We have run Spybot, Super anti spyware, Avira antivirus And Ccleaner. And it still wants to lockup The laptop is running windows 7 home and is updated weekly. Perhaps some programs are in conflict but it is difficult to know which ones they are while it is locked up Also- after the initial lockup it will run fine and not lock up again so long as it is in constant use. but if it allowed to set for a while with no user input, it will lock up again. Any ideas THANK YOU!!
Welcome to WTT Bedbug

It sounds like we need to have a look at what is going on in that PC.

Please run the Overdive test and copy and paste the test result URL in your next post please.

PC Pitstop's 'OVERDRIVE'
http://www.pcpitstop.com/betapit/

Fast, Comprehensive, and Free.
In just a few minutes OverDrive creates an extensive report of your PC's performance, security, software, drivers, and more.

Note: Vista or W7 users with UAC must first Right-click IE - Select "Run as Administrator"
Register and create a password

Accept the ActiveX component to allow your machine to run the Full Tests
Registering and accepting the ActiveX is both SAFE and FREE.
There is a lot of stuff on that site that WTT does not endorse, so just be careful that you zero in on the "Overdrive" test only.

Before running the test, make sure all applications are closed except for the one instance of IE8.
When the test results are displayed, copy the URL from your address bar and post it here.

Note: PCPitStop may recommend that you use certain utilities to fix problems on your computer.
At WhatTheTech, the help we provide is free. We do not endorse or recommend the use of any products PCPitStop may suggest except the Overdrive test.

Cheers,
Lee
I may not have to use PCpistop. After looking at his computer I suggested he remove some trial version software that came with it. After removing norton it seems to run normal. Thanks for the suggestion though, I may use it in the future.
