CPU takin a Poo poo.

Yesterday I was on Kongregate playing a flash game for a while. CPU topped off at 100% and everything else slowed down to a crawl. Closed a lot of stuff and it kept at 100% with little running. Restarted and things were back to fine.

Today I've had it hit the 100% slow down multiple times. Even shortly after restarting.

I ran MalwareBytes and the quick scan said things were clean. Things still slowed down. Ran CCleaner, got the same. Just deleted Java cache after restarting, as of right now things are fine but I'm wary of it staying that way. In fact while writing this CPU shot up to 100% with me doing nothing but copy/pasta and typing.

Now it takes about 20 mins for the CPU to hit the 100% slow down even if I'm doing nothing. 8% usage while running virus check and have this site up, hit the 20 min mark and even though I haven't changed anything 100% and can't open new pages, programs, or shut down. Driving me nuts. Also ran registry cleaner of CCleaner earlier, and again just now.

ntvdm.exe

Windows NT Virtual DOS Machine (NTVDM) for running 16-bit tasks on the 32-bit OS's (Windows NT, 2K and XP). Required if hardware on a machine with these OS's needs 16-bit DOS drivers

It's possible those games you're running requires it.

Well, I've been on Kong playing games since 2006 and never had any problems. Now suddenly ntdvm.exe will load, usually load 2 copies of itself and will devour all. Hijack log looks ok tho?

Please do not delete anything unless instructed to.


I've been seeing some Java infections lately.

Next:
Note: Close all browsers before running ATF Cleaner: IE, FireFox, etc.

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
Download - ATF Cleaner»
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.

If you use Firefox browser

Click Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
If you use Opera browserClick Opera at the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.


It's normal after running ATF cleaner that the PC will be slower to boot the first time or two.

Next:

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop.


  • Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
  • At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.

  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.

  • Then click Remove Selected .
  • When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location and post the results.
  • Note: If you receive a notice that some of the items couldn't be removed, that they have been added to the delete on reboot list, please reboot.
