Hi, sorry to hear of the problem with your computer.
The first suspect is heat affecting your computer and causing the thermal overload sensor to trip and shut down your machine
Have you or anyone ever used this machine on any surface other than an uncovered hard table…for example on a carpeted floor, sofa, setee, bed, couch or any surface where lint fluff, dust could be drawn in to the cooling system of your computer?
If it has been used in this way then it will probably need a clean both from the exterior and the interior….. post back if you need directions on doing this
The second suspect is miseated RAM or a RAM socket/module that is causing problems…..
Take out the Ram Modules (only do one at a time so you can be sure of putting them back correctly) and then refit them.
Do this 3 times (it will help to clean up the contacts by doing this 3 times)
remove the battery and proceed to a fresh boot up using mains power only ………… See if this improves things
If you can overcome the shutting down problems then we can deal with the CD/DVD drive issues later
Please post back with the full error codes (stop codes) you are receiving when you manage to get the machine operating without shutting down
You will need to take all personal safety and ESD (anti static) precautions when opening your machine and great care when cleaning it,
Its easy to cause further damge if you are not experienced in these procedures, so If you are unsure of the procedures to follow ,post back before starting and we will provide directions, or as an alternative you could consider asking a local competent computer technician to provide you with a fixed price quotation for doing the work for you.
