Perhaps i did the repair installs wrong, could you possible walk me through how to repair the network connection or find out how to set up a wireless connection. maybe its set to another router or access point, and there for the wireless isn't responding because its looking for another router. It needs to be set up with my router. Anyways im pretty sure i know how to do these things but it wouldn't hurt to go over them again to make sure i didn't screw up any where.
If your wireless is finding available networks, but cannot connect… And if you recently did a Repair Installation, then your system probably needs you to re-enter the WEP or WPA/WPA2 password or passphrase. If the above is the case, then that is all that will be necessary.

The wireless light isn't turning on at all. Its just saying its yellow. Therefor it can't locate any networks at all. Its almost like the wireless network interface doesn't exist or isnt installed on the computer. I can plug it directly to a ethernet cord and it works fine, its just the wireless is not picking up any networks.
Is there a small "wireless switch" on the front leading edge of your laptop? Give it a try. Next… Have a look in Device Manager What is installed for Network Adapters?
Yeah doug, the wireless switch is turned on. That would be the first thing i would check. Under "network adapters" it says Nvidia Nforce Networking Controller" Which is the network card. So its displayed there. The wireless just isnt gathering a signal at all from any networks. Its not a problem with range because i have the laptop right next to my action tech pk5000 modem. It is also not a case of the network having any wireless issues, because i have other networking devices that im using that are working just fine.
Possibly uninstall - re-install Network connector? (via Device Manager) When you did the Repair Install, did you go to machine manufacturer's website and download/install the ChipSet and other Drivers?
Nvidia Nforce Networking Controller From a brief google search that appears to be the Controller for Ethernet (wired not wireless) In Device Manager are their any items listed as "Other" and not installed. I suspect you have not yet installed a wireless network adapter.
yeah ive downloading drivers for it. Do you know a link for a dv6000 HP pavilion model. I need the wireless drivers for that and it has to be for windows 7. I tried googling the drivers but i had difficulty trying to find the right ones.
HP doesn't appear to have drivers for your machine with Windows 7. Some threads I've seen have stated that the Vista drivers work, but that may not be reliable. You may have to go to the manufacturer of the specific piece of hardware for which you wish a driver.
Yeah ive tried it. I really don't think its a case of drivers, i have messed with this laptop countless times, windows 7 is usually really thorough at locating the drivers if your missing any. This time the wireless just doesn't connect. I think its more or a less hardware failure inside the machine.
When did you first install Windows 7 on this machine? is it 32bit or 64bit?
What installation media did you use to install Windows 7? Retail, OEM, Upgrade
What is the source? Where did you get the Windows 7 installation media?

Has this machine "ever" connected wirelessly while running Windows 7?

What was the last successful/stable/functional Windows Operating system used on this machine?

Some of my reading suggests that that machine has a Broadcom wireless adapter.

Please connect the machine via Ethernet.
Then run the PCPitstop OverDrive Full Tests.

Post the link to your results.

Here's how:

You must use your Internet Explorer for this procedure. (doesn't work so well in Firefox or others). If your machine is running Vista or Windows 7, you must Select IE to “Run as Administrator”. After completing PCPitstop OverDrive you can close your IE browser and re-open it Normally so that you are no longer running as administrator.

Go to: http://www.pcpitstop.com
Click on "Free Computer Check-up" listed below PC Pitstop OverDrive
In the User Login - Click on "Sign up FREE!"
You'll need to submit a valid email address and create your own password, then click - Create Account(button)

Now enter your email address and password to Log in, Select - Scan this system Now!(button)
You will then be asked to download an ActiveX component and allow it to install.
It is safe and does not compromise your privacy.
Follow the on-screen prompts to install the ActiveX and to allow the Full Tests to be run on your machine.

The Full Tests take about 2 1/2 - 3 minutes on most machines.
When complete, a Results - Summary - Recommended Fixes will be displayed.

Please post the URL internet address, from your Results, back here into this Topic Thread so that we can review the configuration and present performance levels of your machine.

Note: During the graphics 2D and graphics 3D testing, your screen will display some rapidly moving objects.
If you are sensitive to visual flashing, it may cause dizziness. Therefore, look away from the screen during that portion of the testing.

After reviewing the results we will be more informed and may be able to provide better recommendations for you to work towards improving your machine's performance.

While PCPitstop does offer a variety of Paid Products, the PCPitstop OverDrive testing is FREE. Please ignore the references to Paid Products. At WTT we prefer to provide manual solution instructions that you can apply directly to your machine.

Best Regards

Not butting in here but Jeff was the wireless working before, my sister has a hp dv6000 and when I went to bump her up to Windows 7 Prem, I could not get her wireless device to work due to what I ran into lack of support or IE: drivers for that device, when I moved her back down to Vista it was working. I am not saying this may or maynot be the case for you.

If it was working once, would like to know how so I could try it again on her system, thanks.
