Well to start off i'd like to thank - in advance - anyone who's willing to help. [system specs below]
Here's the full story, my power plug was acting weird for a while so the computer shut off a bunch of times improperly, a few weeks later my Hard disk drive didnt respond, on reboot it didnt want to boot and after analyzing it using HDD Generator it turned out it had hundreds of bad sectors in the first 10 GB. so i cut that off using partition magic pro and installed windows XP temporarily, a few days later i installed windows 7 ultimate edition back. on, worked like magic .. then i bought a new Western Digital Caviar 500 GB Hard disk. after adding partitions and reinstalling windows 7 ultimate, problems started to appear.. the problems are as following
1- i noticed 11 of SVCHOST Proccesses when i usually had 4 or 5 or 6 max.
2- Dramatic increase in idle CPU, GPU And Physical memory usage. [currently CPU Usage is 23%, GPU Jumps up to 7% then goes down and physical memory at 41%]
3- after scanning, AVG found a bogus svchost.exe and a svchost.dat in C:/users/name/local/temp and identified them as Trojan 2.BCJF [ as far as i can remember] it dealt with them accordingly.

the question is ;- is it normal for the PC to increase idle cpu,gpu and physical memory usage when a new Hard disk is installed or is it a virus that i cant find or something else?

System specs.

OS : Windows 7 ultimate 32bit (6.1 built 7600)
Mainboard : Asus P5K
Processor : Intel Core2duo E7300 @ 2.66 GHz
Rams : 4GB

Again any help would be appreciated and thanks in advance.

I don't think you can edit a post until after you've made 15 post, or something like that.

On my Win 7 Pro X64 system, I have 15 svchost.exe processes running, one of which is flagged *32.

Win 7 indexing can boost CPU and memory use for awhile after Win 7 is installed, but that should taper off once the hard drive has been fully indexed (for the Search function).

What does Process Explorer show? Maybe that will give you a clue as to what is happening.

It's possible you still have some kind of malware. Go to the Spyware / Malware / Virus Removal forum, read the info there and follow the posted directions. Once you receive a clean bill of health, come back here if you have any additional questions or concerns or it turns out not to be a malware problem.

Please be patient as that is a very busy area. If you do not receive a response in 3 days, post a message here: http://forums.whatthetech.com/What_Do_If_Y…ays_t78698.html
