When I turn on my computer, the only image I get is a black screen with "X300XT BIOS P/N 113-A33437-102" on the top left. I do not know why this is showing up. For a few hours, my computer would not boot up, but I could check my BIOS. Anything after would not show up, my computer would freeze. I can not check my BIOS anymore. Is my motherboard completely gone? Please help, I really need my computer to work.
Hi Gordon,

For a few hours, my computer would not boot up, but I could check my BIOS

Does that mean you can:
Check your bios after a few hours but still no boot to desktop, or check your bios straight away and the PC boots to Desktop after a few hours?

Cheers,
Lee
I was able to check my BIOS for a few hours, but now the only thing I see is "X300XT BIOS P/N 113-A33437-102" I can not do anything. I have a Dell dimension 9100.
Try this.
  • Unplug the power cord.
  • Open the computer. I believe it opens like a clam shell. There are buttons on the top and bottom at the back. Press the bottom one and open the case a little, then press the top one and open it all the way.
  • Remove the CMOS battery. This tells you how to replace it which should give you the info you need: Replacing the CMOS battery
  • Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds. This allows all the capacitors in the computer to fully drain.
  • Put the CMOS batter back in.
  • Connect the power cord
  • Power up
Sometimes this will fix problems like this, sometimes not. Worth a try and only takes a few minutes.

If it does fix it, when you power up you should get some kind of error message about configuration data being corrupt. It will give you the option to press a key to continue or a key to enter Setup. Press the one that gets you into Setup. Once there, press the key or select the setting to load Default values. Then save and exit.
Do you have a CD, a DVD or a floppy disk in your CD, DVD, or floppy drive when you start the computer? If so remove it as sometimes it can cause your problem. Or possibly one or more of the following elements are corrupted and will not load during the boot sequence of the computer: Master boot record Partition tables Boot sector NTLDR file To fix any of the latter issues you need an OS disk or a Repair Disk (to return to factory state) from the PC Manufacturer. Alternately you can ring them to advise on the issue as I don't think we can point to a definite hardware or software problem. It could be either. There is probably a separate partition on your HDD with the factory state restore on it, but I can't see how it is possible to access and run it. Cheers, Lee

What happened to the DVD/ CD drive. I'm sure ti came with one.

He has an Optical drive, just no disk that came with the PC.
