Bios Flashing
4 min read
Hi garrydom, and welcome to the WTT forums.

Depending on your set up, and specifications, flashing the BIOS can solve some problems when the extra functionality of a later BIOS version is specifically required. It can also help in correcting specific errors under certain circumstances.
It can also be a way of turning a computer into an expensive doorstop! (That will no longer start up!) For that reason extra information is needed before proceeding.
On modern setups it is generally not as hazardous a procedure as it was on older machines….. never the less it is not a procedure to be undertaken lightly and without having a precise idea of the functionality you require from a later BIOS or the fault you are intending to cure.
Post back and let us know the:
1 full make and model number of your computer
2 the details of the existing BIOS (make and its version number)
3 and the specific problems or functionality that you are intending to fix.
4 please also confirm that you have a Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS) available to offer some protection during any upgrade to your BIOS.

3 Have you run "Who Crashed" to see what is causing the crashes?

Hi, for some reasons you are not answering my questions..and those answers need to be full. accurate and complete if I am to help you…. I cannot provide you with advice unless you make sure you have answered them all properly…
Flashing the BIOS is not a step to be undertaken lightly…

Hi Garry,
I will always try to help folks who are in trouble with their computers and there are many other techs on the WTT forum who are happy to help as well.
However you are making it difficult for us, by not answering the questions fully and completely.
Please review the whole topic and if you are having difficulty understanding the questions we are asking then please ask a friend to assist you in composing your reply.
It would be irresponsible of us to provide information to you that could result in your computer becoming unusable, because we we had failed to get answers from you as to the functionality you require from a BIOS update and the answers to the other questions we asked.

Please i need a flashing guide to my bios to resolve my possible problem
Hi garrydom, we are anxious to help you, please be assured of that.
However for reasons we do not understand, you seem to be avoiding providing full and complete answers to the questions we have asked you.
It would be irresponsible of us to provide instructions for updating your BIOS, when that action may be ineffective or may create more problems than it would solve. We cannot predict the potential results from a BIOS upgrade without the full and complete information we are trying to obtain from you
Please review your topic with a friend and supply the missing information…… alternatively it may be advisable to take your computer to a local competent computer technician and ask them to check out your system for you….. Get a firm quotation for the work before going ahead.
