Well the last few months every time I turn on my PC it takes forever for things to start up once the welcome screen goes away. I'm using a wireless connection and it takes forever for it enable and anytime I try to click on any program my computer pretty much lags horribly. I did a control alt delete and wanted to check what was using all my memory and I noticed the whole time my computer is being extremely slow to load my wireless connection, among other things, my system idle process was using like 70 to 99 percent of my resources. It never use to do this before, or at least not for the length that it's happening, ranges anywhere from 2 to 10 mins after start up Any suggestions what I can do? I'm currently running Windows XP

Hiya Sinalma86,

Sorry to hear about your problems with your pc, let start off with some info

1. You said here - Well the last few months every time I turn on my PC it takes forever for things to start up once the welcome screen goes away.

My thought here what was the first sign of problems prior to this and I may be thinking if this has gotten worse over time could it be possible infections?

But for now I would advise you to back up all important data that you have.

2. For for the time please post back with the current info:

1. Make and Model of Machine
2. System spec's CPU Speed, Ram, and other hardware
3. When or what caused the first set of problems.
4. Do you have a known good restore point prior to the first set of problems.
5. Have you tryed anything to make the system run faster or better and if so what did you use?
6. Have you tryed going into safe mode to see if the system responds the same way or runs faster?

Please report back with the info, I have a suspicion you may have some infections causing the problems, but not sure as of yet.

Wanted to add one thought. The large the System Idle value, the better. System Idle means just that, the percent of time your computer is not doing anything, therefore available to do more work. My System Idle typically ranges in the upper 90%.
