What i am facing now is once i insert my External Harddisks, Pendrives, CD or whatever plug into ports, no "AutoPlay" menu comes out asking to choose to run. I have to manually open "My Computer" to open. What is happening to my Windows Vista or whatever affects my OS? I have tried a lot of troubleshootings before i come here to seek helps from some experts here, below-described method is the basic method to enable the AutoPlay function. But it doesn't work at all for me. Any suggestion? Thanks in advance!! 1.Click the "Start" menu button in the lower left corner of the screen. Then click "Control Panel". 2. Click "Hardware and Sound" from the Control Panel window and then select "AutoPlay". 3. Click the "Use AutoPlay for all media and devices" check box. 4. Click the "Save" button and you have enabled AutoPlay for audio CDs in Vista.
OK, it's a bit of a drag Peteriando if unlike some, you want Auto play to do it's thing :) The first task is to ensure that Shell Hardware Detection service is running. Type “service.msc” in Start Search to run Services console. Locate Shell Hardware Detection, and ensure that the “Service Status” is Running, and “Startup Type” is Automatic. If not, start the service and change the Startup Type setting accordingly. Cheers, Lee
