Can't access Local Disc... Most files open in Notepad

well i went over the instructions, and ive run into a very large snag. i thought i had told you i do not have a windows 7 instillation disk. and without that i cant do it. it did not come in the box with my pc.

Hi mgpd802, From here you have 3 options: 1. We could try a system restore to a previous date and hope it fixes your issue. 2. You could return your PC under warranty to Dell. 3. You could contact Dell and insist they send you a CD Which would you like to do?

it seems like my only option is to ask dell for the disk. and im not sure what the extent of my warrenty is so im not sure about that

Hi mgpd802, My teacher and I encourage you to obtain a CD. A new machine shouldn't have this many problems, they are not malware related. So it may be possible to fix. There quite well be more issues with this PC, which is why we encourage a reformat while the PC is still new. Let me know if you get a disk. What happens when you try to do a restore or use the 'repair my computer' function?
