Hi Did you install Windows with a completely fresh install following the mobo replacement…….? If you didn't then you need to do this…… make sure your back up is good before you start. If you did do this then providing the mobo replacement is still under guarantee (or appropriate consumer protection laws in your jurisdiction apply) then its probably best to go back to the repair shop and get them to fix it free of charge Regards paws
still dealing w/ this carp**. geek squad sent back not fixed says i need to reinstal win 7 w/ cd. well i didnt get a cd w/ the new pc from gateway, they want to charge me for it. i did reinstall from partition but didnt fix issue help
If you have done a fresh install of Windows 7 from the recovery partition and you are receiving the same message then you need to take the computer back to the goof squad and push the issue. Those guys are a joke and don't have a clue what they are doing over there. If there is a warranty on this machine then it is their responsibility, period. BTW, I don't think any of them are skilled enough to change a laptop motherboard, so they probably sent your laptop off to the manufacturer? Ths is what they will most likely do again.
As Apploddity said that the goof squad should have done this right, any tech knows when you install a new motherboard you just cannot hook up your hard drive and boot up and expect it to run fine, reason for this the Windows Operating system was installed with the old motherboard and due to the chipset of that motherboard the system was setup for that board. Now a new one was replaced and if the goof squad did not do a clean install of windows, which they should have if they charged you for it, should have been done right or possible a defected motherboard. Again it is their responsibility, period. Push the issue, they repaired it and it should have been done right because they charged you for it.
