Hello i have some questions related to windows vista…please help me out:
Question #1: Is it true that Apple Computer's OS X
operating system is far superior to Microsoft's
Vista and XP??
Question #2: Is it true that, because of
Microsoft's poor product development,
Windows Vista is extremely liable to
getting Malware and Viruses, especially
compared to the supposedly more
secure Apple Operating systems??
Thanks for the feedback in advance!
No. None of that is true. First - an operating system does many things so while Mac OS may do better here, it may not there. MS does not have poor product development. You don't become the world's leading operating system or office productivity developer by having a poor development department.
Vista is secure if you keep it updated and secured behind a decent anti-malware scanner, and you avoid risky behavior - same with MacOS.
Good morning moblle mania,
The security issue/debate between M$ and Apple is a multifaceted deal but I'll just list two off the top of my head.
1. Apple is based off Unix and it's permissions are handled differently than M$.
2 M$ has a FAR greater market share thus makes them an easier target to have a large impact be the malware writing folks.
IMHO, every OS is liable to malware, it's just a matter of the malware developer's choice where to land more money or mayhem. In this case, MS, as it has a greater share on the market as opposed to Apple or Linux.
Lol. I love questions like these.
I was debating this "silly" question (silly, because from a tech standpoint it is obvious the hype Apple puts out is nuts) with a colleague. So, we called Apple tech support who, by the way, is located in cupertino california. He asked, "I hear Macs can't get viruses, do I need anti-virus software on my Mac?" The guy plainly said, "Yes, Macs can get viruses, but because 95% of the world uses PCs I've only ever seen one virus for a Mac." We about laughed our butts off. He then suggested that we probably didn't need anti-virus software.
Anyways, this is really a ridiculous question. First of all, EVERY operating system has vulnerabilities that can allow it to be infected. Based on design, those vulnerabilities can be mitigated but they are still present. Second, the overwhelming majority of infections get on a computer because the user simply downloads and installs them out of ignorance. You will NEVER have a completely secure computer as long as a person sits behind the computer screen. Its called social engineering and the easiest way to infect a computer is to simply ask the user if they would like to download and install the newest game, or anti-virus software.
Now, I take this one step further and say that Macs are far more vulnerable to viruses than PCs. Why? Well, first of all, Apple and their followers have their noses so far up in the air that they actually think they don't need anti-virus software and that they can't get infected. If there was ANY benefit whatsoever to infecting a Mac, malware producers would infect them. But, again, because they have next to no market share, there is no reason to even try, its a waste of time. But, what makes things worse is because of the smug attitude, Mac users are far more likely to infect their computers because they think they are invulnerable. Lastly, UNIX operating systems have the worst kind of rootkits that can be created. A rootkit on a UNIX operating system is a completely different beast than a "rootkit" on a Windows operating system. They function similarly but on UNIX they are much more powerful and complete.
So, I can say only one thing to Mac users. You better open your eyes and smell the coffee. If Apple continues to gain market share there will come a time when it becomes worth while to infect a Mac, and at that time its users will be completely unprepared and poor Apple will have some apologizing to do to its loyal fans who were deceived by the marketing hype. At that time the facade that Apple has lived by, will be destroyed.
Meanwhile, PC users will continue to live with the understanding that there are bad people out there that want to steal everything they can from us, and we need to protect ourselves and be cautious. Its nothing new.
By the way, nobody here is one of those 350,000 goofballs that went and stood in line for the absolutely useless, overpriced Iphone with a bigger screen and less options called an Ipad were you? Newsflash, I don't think you are cool because you have an Ipad, so you wasted your money.
On that note: Vista sucks!
