Hey there,

I recently tried to install Netbeans 6.5.1 onto my computer but it cannot install because when I try to run the installer it prompts me an error message saying the following:

Now, this isn't true, I definitely have JDK installed on my computer and when it came up saying this message, I reinstalled it but to no avail.

I do realise that there are newer versions of Netbeans out there (6.8 the most recent I think) but in my college we use version 6.5.1 so I want to use this one because of familiarity.

I have seen this problem occur before for other people over the WWW but there was no real answer given.

Does anyone know a solution to this? It really has to be ASAP because I have to get something done by Friday and time is running out. Please help!
This is a known issue it appears. You most likely are running a 64-bit version of windows. You have to realize that with 64-bit operating systems you'll need to be using the latest builds of the software you want to use if you expect it work properly.

Workaround is to extract the installation data and run installer manually
netbeans-6.1-windows.exe –extract
java -jar bundle.jar

Thanks for the reply.

I am actually using the 32-bit version of Windows 7, would it make a difference?
