[Resolved] wscntfy.exe

My co-worker picked up an Anti-virus virus. Not sure if wscntfy.exe is the correct name, but that name seems to come up in some of the pop-up boxes.

I ran Malwarebytes and it found three infections, and I quarantined those and restarted, but the problem persists. Ran another scan, but it did not find anything. Have been working in Safe mode. The computer can not access the internet, either.

I have attached a Highjack This log.
Sorry if this displays more than once, but the first time I posted, I got redirected because I was using an older version of HijackThis, so had to redo everything over again.

Stay with this topic until I give you the all clean post.

You might want to print these instructions out.

I suggest you do this:

Double-click My Computer.
Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.
Click the View tab.
Uncheck "Hide file extensions for known file types."
Under the "Hidden files" folder, select "Show hidden files and folders."
Uncheck "Hide protected operating system files."
Click Apply, and then click OK.


Please do not delete anything unless instructed to.

Run hijackthis. Hit None of the above, Click Do a System Scan Only. Put a checkmark/tick in the box on the left side on these:

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new HijackThis log file into this thread.

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.

Thank you for your help. I believe I followed your instructions exactly.
The fake antivirus warnings are now gone. However, the computer still will not connect to the Internet. The diagnostics says there is a problem with a firewall.
