Hi guys,
I know I am asking a lot here but, fingers crossed, one of you will be able to help.
I am visiting some friends in Hungary (on holiday from UK) and they have asked me to help get their PC working normally as it is exremely slow and occasionally locks up. It also takes an age to start up. Internet connection is non existant.
Fortunately, I have my laptop with me which I have connected to their adsl modem.
They have windows XP SP2 and I managed to install SP3 thinking this might provide some fix but it seems to have made things worse. They do not use windows auto update for, erm, legal reasons.
One of the running processes in Task Manager is System Idle Process which has a constant 99% in the CPU column (don't know if this is relevant).
They have uTorrent which won't allow me to uninstall!
Can I download a scanner onto my laptop and transfer it via USB stick?
Oh yes, I nearly forgot, I have to leave for the airport in about 6 hours!
One more thing, I have avast on my laptop and I have noticed repeated attack warnings.
