This tool is an additional one to SpybotSD and/or AdAware to clean up leftover problems not detected and removed by those or other anti-spyware programs.

HijackThis, a general homepage hijackers detector and remover. Initially based on the article Hijacked!, but expanded with almost a dozen other checks against hijacker tricks. It is continually updated to detect and remove new hijacks. It does not target specific programs/URLs, just the methods used by hijackers to force you onto their sites. As a result, false positives are imminent and unless you are sure what you're doing, you should always consult with knowledgable folks (e.g. the forums) before deleting anything.

This tool is widely used across the internet now by many help forums to determine problems with a user's internet browsing experience from a wide range of problems stemming from a hijacked browser to sex dialers and spyware that has not even been added to any anti-spyware program.

In my opinion this is the backbone to find many of the newer problems that are occurring across the web and enables us to help users everywhere.

If you have not already had to install Vbrun60 files from Microsoft for another program, you will have an error about missing files when you try to run the program.
You can download the files needed which is a simple installer from Microsoft
