Hi, I've been receiving messages from windows defender stating I have been infected with renos.js. This has resulted in numerous issues, including my not being able to run spybot, adaware, hijackthis (error states i don't have the permissions to run such programs...), i can't access avg anti-virus control panel. None of these are accessible in safe mode either. I have done system restores to way beyond when this issue started...which i believe was when attempting to view a downloaded video file, i was prompted to download a codec to view. When typing in a url into firefox such as www.whatthetech.com, i get sent to a google search results page. I click the appropriate link, and back to a google search it goes. weird stuff, indeed! i attempted to run inherit.exe, but the app won't run, i receive the windows error message that the app has stopped responding immediately when the program is started. I have downloaded and run Erunt. After downloading dds (after script blocking, AV apps have been disabled) when attemptin to run, i get a 'dos' screen flash, then nothing. Next is RootRepeal..... immediately a windows message stating, "rootrepeal has stopped working.... problem caused the program to stop working correctly....". I can't seem to create any log of what's going on anywhere! Any help available would be greatly appreciated!! TIA steve
