You haven't provided much information so let me ask for some.
What OS? XP (Pro or Home), Vista?
When did this start happening?
What did you do around that time?
Did you install or uninstall any software or hardware?
Was it right after a Windows Update session?
Download and run StartupList. When it finishes, click on File then Save as. Save startuplist.txt to your Desktop. Upload it here and attach it using Browse, Upload and Manage Current Attachments (in that order) buttons below the text input area.
I need to see what is starting on your computer. With that I may be able to tell you what is causing the problem.
As a test, you can also create a new User Account. Reboot and login as the new account and see if you get the same error.
Open Control Panel then User5 Accounts to create a new one.
Edit: DO NOT run any registry cleaners, RegCure or Quad Cleaner, they do more harm than good unless you know what you are doing.
Hi, just to update. i've managed to sort the error problem out. I had a look in system configuration and it had a (i'm guessing) script that said "Project1" which it says on the error that pops up. Unchecked it rebooted and the errors now gone
But when i log out and go to the users page (3 of us use the pc) it goes to black still before you can do anything.
The pc's shutting down fine, just this little problem.
Is their anything i can do?
Apologies for the late reply, when i posted the above it was 2:40am uk time and needed some sleep
How do i do a System Restore?
Edit: Been attacked by several trojans on restart. I scanned with AVG, followed instructions and they now seem to be gone.
I restarted the computer and an error popped up with "mikasova". i went to msconfig, unchecked something called "ferizokey" which had the command "mikasova.dll".
I did that twice and now their gone.
There's still another called ferizokey but thats unchecked and there's no problems. that has a command "gedesumi.dll"
Looks like you have a recurring malware infection. Go to the HijackThis™ Logs and Infections Removal forum, read the info there and follow the posted directions. Once you receive a clean bill of health, come back here if you have any additional questions or concerns or it turns out not to be a malware problem.
It's been fine through most of the day. No infections at all just the problem with logging in and out.
Could this not be sorted through System Restore?
System Restore will not remove most infections, and in fact may reinfect a cleaned computr if the restore point itself is infected, which happens with alarming regularity.
My recommendation at this point is to let one of our malware gurus look at your system. Once they give you the all clear then come back here if you still need help.
