i recently installed a Video Software called Sony Vegas 9.0 but it doesnt load because it tells me that i have low memory when my PC specs are
4 gb RAM
500 gb HD
3.16ghz
I googled around and someone told me to see in my tast manager what is running the most Memory Usage and its my SVHOST.exe I have 7 of them in my taskmanager
even after quiting everything on startup and desktop programmes throught msconfig it still doesnt work.
Services are programs that autostart at boot and keep running without interaction from the user; svchost.exe job is to launch some of this services. Having many svchost.exe programs running is normal, it means you are running many services. However, you probably dont use some of the services that are running the memory usage, so I strongly recommend you disabling the services you dont need to run in order to increase your computer performance. Disabling services that you dont use will also increase your computer security, as some types of malware take advantage of services running. To do so, please follow these instructions
Disabling services- Go to Start/Run and copy and paste the following in the box:
services.msc
Then press enter. A new Window will open (services), there you may disable the services you dont need. To disable a service you have to double-click it and select "Disabled". HERE is an interesting list of Windows XP services. If you want to get further infomation on a service, you may google it or ask here.
Still, having 4MB of RAM, Sony Vegas should run anyway with no problem. Please take a screenshot of the error window you receive and post it in your next response.
The error, as deceptive as it may seem, is not related to the amount of physical RAM on your computer. That is obvious by the fact that you have very little running and 4GB of RAM.
I suggest searching around for possible solutions others may have suggested. The error message is certainly deceptive.
People using Dual or Quad Core systems with 4GB of ram have the same problem, mostly when rendering in HD. In my opinion it's a poorly written application. Also, those threads indicate the problem is new with V9 where V8 worked okay.
Perhaps a new Quad Core system with 8GB of ram "might" work but even that's no guarantee.

To have more than 4 gb of RAM you will have to get either Vista or windows 7 64-bit. XP 64 bit would technically do but it is carp & is not useful at all do to the lack of driver support from manufacturers. You will also have to have a 64 bit processor (which most of the modern ones are) & you will also have to have a motherboard that can support that much ram. I just felt like I should put that down even though I know nothing at all about that software. Perhaps you can take it back and tell them that it doesn't work.
