Are your service packs up to date ? I have seen a lot of USB issues due to SP's, but what driver did you try and use ? and what OS are you running ?
i updated everything (including windows updates, motherboard drivers etc) but it turned out to be that when i had plugged the thing into the USB 2.0 it had malfunctioned and not properly installed :\ managed to update the software for the thing manually through the device manager to resolve it, ta guys
