Hi, I am hoping someone can help me.

I was infected by some sort of virus a few days ago (rootkit?) by stupidly running an exe out of a rar I downloaded.
I think I managed to clean most of it up with the use of some antivirus programs and a rootkit detector (rootrepeal), this was before I stumbled across this forum.

Originally I think my system drive (C:) and my external hard drive (G:) had a rootkit virus but I'm pretty sure I have managed to get rid of the one on the system drive. however I am unable to get rid of the one on the G: drive which rootrepeal reports when I scan the G: (I have to switch disk access to lowest level before it will scan).

It would be great if someone could help with me with the G drive and check that C (and my other drives, d: e: and f: ) are ok.

Here is my hijack this log:

Hi,

  • Download random's system information tool (RSIT) by random/random from here and save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on RSIT.exe to run RSIT.
  • Click Continue at the disclaimer screen.
  • Once it has finished, two logs will open. Please post the contents of both log.txt (<info.txt (<rsit folder)

Download GMER here by clicking download exe -button and then saving it your desktop:
  • Double-click .exe that you downloaded
  • Click rootkit-tab and then scan.
  • Don't check
    Show All
    box while scanning in progress!
  • When scanning is ready, click Copy.
  • This copies log to clipboard
  • Post log in your reply.
Hi, thanks for helping. Here are the 2 RSIT log files, I have attached them to the post if that's ok. I have starred out some personal info in the logfiles, but the rest of the path remains intact. I am running the GMER scan now, seems like it will take some time so I thought I'd just post these first. I will post the results of the GMER scan later.
I have tried to scan with GMER all my drives, but it has BSOD'ed twice now. So just re-scanning with just the C drive.
Hi, There's p2p file sharing software installed. Nowadays, big part of infections are received from p2p downloads. That's why I recommend to uninstall such software. If you don't want to uninstall then you still have to make sure none of those programs is running during cleaning process. Don't do anything else while GMER is running.
