Thanks in advance…My computer has been acting real funny as of late. :pullhair: I had someone try to remove a serious infection a couple of weeks ago but I had a rootkit detected again tonight by Microsoft Security Essentials and stated the following which I had selected to disinfect:

Category: Virus

Description: This program is dangerous and replicates by infecting other files.

Recommendation: Remove this software immediately.

Microsoft Security Essentials detected programs that may compromise your privacy or damage your computer. You can still access the files that these programs use without removing them (not recommended). To access these files, select the 'Allow' action and click 'Apply actions'. If this option is not available, log on as administrator or ask the local administrator for help.

Hi,

Download DDS and save it to your desktop from here or here or here.
Disable any script blocker, and then double click dds file to run the tool.
  • When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:
    • DDS.txt
    • Attach.txt
  • Save both reports to your desktop. Post them back to your topic.

  • Please download Rootkit Unhooker Save it to your desktop.
  • Now double-click on RKUnhookerLE.exe to run it.
  • Click the Report tab, then click Scan.
  • Check (Tick) Drivers, Stealth, Files, Code Hooks. Uncheck the rest. then Click OK.
  • Wait till the scanner has finished and then click File, Save Report.
  • Save the report somewhere where you can find it. Click Close.
Copy the entire contents of the report and paste it in a reply here.

Note** you may get this warning it is ok, just ignore

Rootkit Unhooker has detected a parasite inside itself!
It is recommended to remove parasite, okay?
Here are the DDS Logs. I'm still waiting for RkU to finish scanning to post that log.

Sorry for the delay. I downloaded ComboFix, disabled my antivirus program (MS Security Essentials) and tried to run it but I received a Detected AVG & McAfee. I looked and can't find any trace of them. Then while it said it's doing it's backing up Windows registry, a window stated the following: REGT.cfxxe - Unable to locate component This application has failed to start because clb.dll was not found. Re-install the application my fix this problem. In the bottom right tool bar, a yellow triangle with a black exclamation point opened and stated at the same time: PEV.cfxxe - Corrupt File The file or directory c:\Documents and Settings\Kathy\Local Settings\Temporary Internet\Files\Content.IE5\BRA5667U\Fox[1].swf is corrupt and unreadable. Please run the Chkdsk utility. I tried to get back online but I couldn't (happens often now) so I rebooted. The computer did a scan during reboot and said to deleted two files, one being that of the Fox[1] above. I'm going to try and reinstall ComboFix for a another scan. Hopefully it will work and have something to you by morning.
No go with ComboFix. I received the same message…Detected AVG & McAfee. Then while it said it's doing it's backing up Windows registry, a window stated the following: REGT.cfxxe - Unable to locate component This application has failed to start because clb.dll was not found. Re-install the application my fix this problem. I didn't get the other message with the yellow triangle however. Lastly…I noticed after reboot an icon down in the bottom right called stickykeys. If I hit my Ctrl, Shift or Alt keys, the computer makes a starwars laser sound and the icon disappears.
