Random freezes / lockups.

Ok so, at this point I am pretty sure with all of the anti virus and anti malware programs i've scanned with that the issue is error related and not malware related, here is a link to a thread that describes my problem, as you can see by the end of the thread these guys were unable to help me fix the issue. http://www.nutnworks.com/forums/showthread.php?t=22071

We tried various things but nothing ended up getting rid of these random hangups, things just stop responding for short / long periods of time randomly, its getting increasingly problematic.

One thing i have noticed recently other than the freezes is sometimes on boot up or sometimes outta the blue later on if it doesn't happen on boot up is i get an error message that says "error (or "problem" not sure) creating security dialog", then i just OK it and it goes away but the problems persist, i don't believe i ever had that error message before the lock ups began.

Any help you can provide would be VERY MUCH appreciated, i would like to avoid a reformat as thats expensive and time consuming backing things up.

This sounds like a laptop with a bad hard drive.
