Hello, I have a few problems with iTunes. My PC recently completely crashed and I had to buy a new one. I bought a Dell, with Vista installed. My entire library is on an external drive, to protect me from precisely this kind of situation. I have successfully installed iTunes but found it very difficult to re-install my library back into iTunes (around 13,000 songs). Once I managed to upload my library, I have now found that I am unable to edit any of the information relating to songs, artists etc, as I had managed previously. I am also unable to increase the volume. when I click on these tabs the pages are un-highlighted and I cannot alter any of this info..... Any suggestions and help appreciated... Thanks, Adam

I hate iTunes for this very sort of reason, it spits the dummy about what it will allow unless you physically use it to rip the music, it's like your iPod, using iTunes to put music on\sync after you reinstall it means it wont accept the iPod, it will say it's not set up to use that library (or similar) and force you to sync it all over again, so due to these kind or restrictions I no longer use iTunes for music, I use it purely for updating the firmware and thats it.

What I suggest is use MediaMonkey to rip\label\upload your music, it is much better and offers full control over the music no matter where it comes from, and it works perfectly with your iPod or any other player.
I must admit when you first look at it the sheer volume of sections appears overwhelming, but that said if you get used ti using the one section (eg the library section), you will find it very simple to use, and the music can be tagged online and album art added as well, fantastic bit of kit IMHO, hope this helps.

Many thanks for your response. I do find iTunes very frustrating. If it works, it works well, but the smallest thing and it does not work properly until the iTunes gets updated and superceded, which may be in 2-3 months or more. Ideally I would like to find a 'fix' for my my particular problem with iTunes, but will certainly look at your recomendation. Thanks Again. Adam
