An Autocomplete Settings screen keeps popping up accompanyed by a "bleep" sound. Sometimes a 2nd screen pops up saying clear all saved passwords. The pop-up momentarily freezes whatever function I'm doing. And if any version of Internet Explorer is open, it will close. Weird things happen like my number lock keeps going off. I've responded in every way to the Autocomplete Settings and nothing will hold. It keeps poping up again. I previously thought this was a problem with IE. But now I think the issue of IE closing is a symptom, and not the root problem. I will greatly appreciate all help and suggestions anyone can offer. Robert
The 1st question has to be have you used\installed ANY software for this type of thing ? The types of situation your explaining are indicative of an infection, so if you have no explanation to how this may of started have you run any scans to check for infection(s) ? If you can reply with these answers, and mention the name(s) of what is behind these pop up's then we can advise further, but if it is infection based then I suggest going through the steps advised in the Hijack section, but lets make sure whats going on first.
Attached are the Event Viewer logs for Antiverus and application. I'll make another post with the 3rd log, Security. I think the 26th was the day all this mess started. I upgraded to IE 8 and installed Firefox. I'm running Avast Antivirus now.
Sorry but I tried to look at those and I think what little of my brain there is has gone into meltdown lol, it's just to much to take in, we don't need every entry as such, only the entry's that show an issue, and again you may find the same issue noted numerous times, in which case we only need the 1 copy of that, but from what little I could make out I did see numerous error issues mentioned. So if you wouldn't mind posting just the single events as laid out in the error window it will be much easier to see what you see, then we can try and find info from that. *edit Just to add, you don't need to go through the entire list of entry's, just the last few from about when this began approximately, but as I said if entry's are simply duplicates of ones you already have noted back here we don't need them again.
I apologize. I really didn't know what information is relevant from this log. That Application and System categories were the only ones with errors. Below is the predominant error in each since the 26th: Application Category Source=Userenv Event= 1041 User=system System Category Source=Service Control manager Event= 7000 User=N/A The Anti virus Scan did show several viruses which I deleted. Attached is the log from that. Hope its big enough to read. Thanks very much for your help.

Hi Rob1960,
This is a little worrying..

The Anti virus Scan did show several viruses which I deleted.

I think your next step should be to have your machine checked out for any other malicious elements before proceeding further in this thread here.
If you go here:
http://forums.whatthetech.com/Welcome_New_…ers_t34502.html
you will find instructions on how to get your machine checked out/cleaned, by an expert malware fighter.
When your machine has been declared clean please feel free to post back here in this thread if you are still having issues with it and we will do our best to help
Regards

As I said in my 1st reply it seemed like it may of been an infection, I agree with the above, you need to get the pro's to check your Hijack scan, we are not qualified to do this, you need to follow they're directions, no one else's, nor do anything yourself, it can make their job harder. So follow the instructions in the above link and post the log in a new thread in the correct Hijack section, they are busy people so it may be a day or so before they get to you, but give them a chance, once they give you the all clear then we can see if you need further help, but until then we need to wait for the pro's to give the go ahead.
