:pullhair: ok so i quit using my laptop and went and got a different computer. we bought this computer from rent a center and theres no warranties. it was sold as is. im not sure who made it but i can tell you that its got a pentium III processor. what ever that means. it likes to freeze while i use it on the internet. so i do a hard shutdown. then in the set up screen it tells me that the keyboard is locked or not present so i push keys on the keyboard and well… nothing so i have to do the same kind of shutdown and then when i turn it back on i wait and the start up screen does its thing and then after that… nothing. the screen is blank. its alot faster than my laptop and ive installed avg, version tracker pro and i put a sheid protector on it. that was a bad idea i think. when we got this computer it had nothing installed on it. no anti virus, nothing. and it froze and did its problems before i put stuff on it oh and a pop up kept telling me that i needed to go to restorefix.com. well i found out thats a trojan horse. here is the hijackthis configuration :pullhair: Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2

Hi 31capricorn35, welcome to the forum.

To make cleaning this machine easier
  • Please do not uninstall/install any programs unless asked to
It is more difficult when files/programs are appearing in/disappearing from the logs.
  • Please do not run any scans other than those requested
  • Please follow all instructions in the order posted
  • All logs/reports, etc.. must be posted in Notepad. Please ensure that word wrap is unchecked. In notepad click format, uncheck word wrap if it is checked.
  • Do not attach any logs/reports, etc.. unless specifically requested to do so.
  • If you have problems with or do not understand the instructions, Please ask before continuing.
  • Please stay with this thread until given the All Clear. A absence of symptoms does not mean a clean machine.

That HJT log is not complete.

Let's do this instead

Download OTListIt2 to your desktop.
  • Double click on OTList2.exe to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.
  • When the window appears, underneath Output at the top change it to Minimal Output
  • change the File Age to 90 days
  • Check the boxes beside LOP Check and Purity Check.
  • In the window at the bottom under Custom Scans , copy and paste

    msconfig
    hijackthisbackups

  • Click the Run Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long.
When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows. OTListIt.Txt and Extras.Txt. These are saved in the same location as OTListIt2.

Please copy (Edit->Select All, Edit->Copy) the contents of these files, one at a time, and post it with your next reply. You may need two posts to fit them all in.

No need for a Hijackthis log this time.

Thanks
ok i ran that other scan you told me to and its the same thing. there is nothing on this computer. where we got it, they wiped it all out and put a simple program on it. thats all there is on it. i even checked the cache and thats what it says it has. so i dont know what else. thank you very much but we got a new computer thats brand new thank you for your help but we decided to go new new.
Hi 31capricorn35

Okay. You an remove OTLISTIT2

Open OTListIt2 then click the Clean Up button. You may get prompted by your firewall that OTListIt wants to contact the internet - allow this. A cleanup.txt will be downloaded, a message dialog will ask you if you want to proceed with the cleanup process, click Yes. This will do some clean up tasks and delete some of the tools you have downloaded plus itself.

Good luck with your new computer. You may want to read this thread. Lot's of good tips there on how to stay clean.
