Hi All!
In my sony vaio laptop (OS:Windows Vista) almost every application which is having .exe extension opens with WMP & that too in turn shows an error message saying sthing like that…. .exe is not a valid application to open with WMP. On clicking property its target type also showing it as a wmp file instead, not as an application I think it must be a virus….how do I get rid of it? I'll be highly obliged if any one can help????????????
I am not sure what may have happened to cause WMP to open every exe program, but try this:
Microsoft's Media Player is a program that associates the type of files it is capable of opening. If there is a certain type of file extension that you do not wish to have associated with Windows Media Player follow the below steps.
Open Windows Media Player by clicking Start, Programs, Accessories, Entertainment, and then clicking Windows Media Player.
Once open click Tools and then Options.
If you don't see the top menu click the down arrow in the top right corner of the window.
In the Options window click the File Types tab.
uncheck the box you don't wish to have Windows Media Player associated with, in this case it would be .exe
Press OK
see if that returns everything to normal
