Taking long time to Boot-UP & Startup

Recently i installed Oracle 8i and Visual studio 6 on my PC..Since then iam encountering a problem i.e. my PC takes more time to BOOT-UP and Start-up(perhaps 7-10 minutes)…if i uninstall the 2 above mentioned softwares then it again becomes normal…But as i need those 2 softwares for my project work so i cant uninstall them right now…
Is there any solution to solve this problem and enhance my boot-up and startup time…??
Plz reply..

My PC Config. are:-

Intel P4 processor (3.06 GHz)
Windows XP Professional OS
80 GB HDD
512 RAM

Note:-My Hard Disk is almost full…and the C-drive where my windows is installed has 1.5 GB of Space left..
Hi Dinesh.

More RAM would surely make a difference, especially if those applications are loading at startup. Moving from 512MB to 1GB should see a significant improvement. It may even pay to go to 2GB, though that is not a definite.

What is starting when you boot your computer? You can use msconfig to look at the startup items:

Click on Start then Run, type msconfig and press Enter.
Click on the Startup tab.

If you like, download and run Startup List. It does not have to be installed, just run StartupList.exe. When it finishes, you can click on File then Save as and save it to your desktop or any folder of your choice (as startuplist.txt).

Next start a reply here in this thread and use the Browse and Upload buttons to upload the startuplist.txt file you saved here. Lastly, you click on the Manage Current Attachments field (above Browse and Upload) and click on the file you just uploaded. That will place a link to it in your post. Then I, or any other tech can download it to look at and hopefully help you decide what can be disabled from starting when you boot your computer.

That will help some but I think the real payback will be more RAM.
Take a look in event viewer for failed services at startup. You can click start -> run -> type 'eventvwr.msc' and press ENTER. Open the system log and look for errors related to services that failed during startup.

Failed services can really delay the startup of a system.
Edit: Sorry, we don't analyze HIjackThis logs anywhere except the malware forum.

I removed your HJT and Statrup List and attached them here as links in case anyone wants to look at them, but you really need to go to our Malware Forum to have the folks there look at it. Thank you.

There is certainly lots to tune your computer up here.

Your system would benefity enormously just from doing a tune-up on it.

First of all, you are running an obsolete version of AVG7 along side of Avast anti-virus. Uninstall AVG 7 for a start. There is a big myth around that running multiple malware programs provides you better protection. But, if one product provides you 98% protection, and adding another product offers you .5% - 1% more, and adding another product adds .25%, but your computer runs 50% slower and you have 200% more problems is it really worth it? Besides, these two products I don't believe are even supposed to be running beside each other. There is some benefit to running the right combination of software but AVG7 and Avast together is detrimental.

When I get some extra time I'll take you through tuning this system up.

You did not mention if you looked in the "system" event log with event viewer to see if there were any errors about services failing.
