Hello bdgranpa!

Let's see if I can help you out.

If I understand correctly your issue is that Firefox is not saving your homepage setting and you are also receiving a message stating:

"line calling attention to free browser"

and your issue started when you started using version 3.0?

First i must recommend that you backup your bookmarks if you have any.

1) Open Firefox
2) Click Bookmarks
3) Click Organize Bookmarks
4) Click Import/Backup
5) Click Backup
6) Save the file to your desktop or other location of choice

Next I would make sure that you are running the latest version of Firefox. According to their website they are up to version 3.0.6. To check the version of Firefox you are running...

1) Open Firefox
2) Click Help
3) Click About Firefox

The version should be posted on the window that open. Please post that in a reply here.

If you are not running the latest version I would recommend Uninstalling your current version of Firefox and then downloading and installing the latest version from Mozilla's website here.

Let me know your results.

Thanks,
