Try typing find /? and tell me what happens.

Edit: Also please give me the full command that you originally entered. To copy the command, click the icon in the upper left corner of the window, click Edit|Mark, highlight the whole command, press Enter (which copies whatever is highlighted), then paste it here as normal.

'find.exe' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

OK, I think it has something to do with your system path. This we can look at later. Try to perform the following commands in you command prompt:
cd C:\Windows\System32
find /c "SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio" c:\windows\inf\*.inf | find ":" | find /v ": 0"

Let me know what you get for output.

Thanks for the update. How are you installing the SiS driver? Where does the device show up in device manager now?

when i go to Add Hardware, i select allready connected hardware.. then it comes up with a list of my hardware.. the top one is "multimedia audio controller". its icon is a big yellow ? with a ! on it.. i cant install the driver either it just says "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)" then, when i click finish, it gives me the "found new hardware" screen again. i find the sis folder and try to "update" the driver.. doesnt work.. comes up with a little magnifiying glass (looking for software and such.. ) and then comes up with "the hardware was not installed becuase the wizard cannot find the necessary software". :@

OK, we may need to backtrack at this point. Your system doesn't like the SiS driver. If you have the INF files you deleted still in the recycling bin, let's restore those. If not, perform a system restore. I have a feeling that Everest is reporting the wrong audio device and the PC Pitstop test is reporting the wrong motherboard, we'll get back to the point where the SoundMAX audio driver is installed and go from there. I apologize for this, but there are so many conflicting issues. You are doing a great job at working through this. Ax
