Sorry, but if that is your video card http://www.nodevice..../logo/P_560.jpg it is not a 256MB ASUS nVidia EN8400GS PCI-E, It's just an unidentified picture, with no script or spec. information except that it an Asus card from the writing on it. Could you please tell me exactly what is written on the card as well as a manufacturer or sales link to the video card photo you have posted (with script and specs please).

Cheers,
Lee

PS EDIT: OK, I think I've identified the picture you linked to for your card. A ASUS GeForce EN8400GS/HTP 256MB/64bit, not an 256MB ASUS nVidia EN8400GS PCI-E
http://www.villman.c...l/asus_EN8400GS
Well you look like you have a 64bit card trying to run on a 32bit system (?)

You might be trying to run a 64bit card on a 32bit system (?)

PS: Yep, your right Terry, same result as me. It's a 64 bit card trying to run on a 32 bit system so there is going to be serious driver issues and I agree, the temps are no biggy but the driver problem will be a yes or no (?).

Oh, boy, is this card bussiness confusing or what? That said, apart from possible driver issues, the temps. are no real issue in the case set-up it's in.

i don't believe there is a driver issue, to be honest i think i'd be looking elsewhere first, maybe the cpu as the cause of shutdown, especially if he's used that tin foil method(fallacy) on his cpu too. does he have onboard video or another card to test the machine with? does it only shutoff when the gpu is stressed or will it shutoff if he runs a cpu/ram only stress test like prime95?

thats the card. What does HTP stand for? And what do you mean 64bit on 32 bit op? Answering the others. The mobo does NOT have onboard graphics... There is NO tinfoil on the cpu. The cpu right now is a CELERON 336 as my Core 2 Duo is in my friends comp for a while. Looking at prime 95 cpu reaches 62c and gpu 72c. THen i get a bluescreen :P

what screen resolution are you running? have you tried 800x600 to stress the gpu less and see if it still blue screens?? 72c for a gpu doesn't seem an unsafe temp, so wouldn't cause it to shutdown, i don't think anyway. for your voltage's question, they should be set automatically by the motherboard from the info it reads off the ram and cpu, but to manually set them you'd need to know the exact specs of the ram and cpu, also they wouldn't directly effect the temp of the gpu on the video card in my opinion. have you overclocked anything in the bios? if so i'd suggest using the opimized defaults at least until you fix the problem your having at the moment.

Yeah no if i set the voltage to auto my cpu temp hits the roof. My ram voltage is auto, MCH auto and the rest. CPU is at original clock speed. My res is 1280x1024. I am starting to think it is not my gpu. I have 1 spare mobo and i have it running on intergrated grapics. HERE ARE SPECS: Ontai OT-I945LM4 mobo 478 Intel Pentium 4 3.0GHz HT 1MB cache Intel GMA 950 same HDD Same memory

If you have changed the motherboard to the one above, what are the temps you are getting?

ok now you have a different motherboard with onboard video and everything is running fine, try putting that card in it and see if everything still runs fine.

Yeah no if i set the voltage to auto my cpu temp hits the roof.

then this is what i think is causing your shutdown problems, i'd look at re-seating the heatsink with new thermal paste and/or checking the fan is working ok, maybe swapping it for another one.

Yes I certainly was
I've never heard of a 64 bit card, yet every place I looked it up the description was: ASUS GeForce EN8400GS/HTP 256MB/64bit
As for what HTP means, I can find out nothing about it. I did find "High Test Peroxide" or how about "Hold The Phone" ?

Cheers,
Lee

i wouldn't worry about it lee, i think it's just a sales gimmick for that card, don't think htp is used anymore, but there are a couple of links in earlier post if you want to learn more about it.

one more:- http://htp.sourceforge.net/
