Well step one, I ran the scan, and it froze. I already had all the current updates for my computer, and there were no new ones to be found so step two was already done. Though I did not see a step three.... or maybe it just isn't numbered on there. But either way I did everything you asked up until the uninstall and reinstall. If you need any more info please feel free to ask.

If you can give me a little more info please.

When you read this do another update, tell windows to check for them to be sure none were missed, if it reports no new updates were found, look to your upper left corner and click on check for updates link and see what happens.

1. Up to the day when you first came here and posted, were you able to run your scans and was, everything was ok?

2. Once the problem happen of the day you first posted, can you remember what happend to your system that may have caused the problem, reason I am asking you said that you were not using IE7 because of problems and ended up using Mozilla.

3. Have or had you any problems with McAfee, uninstalling and reinstalling it for any reason?

4. Last, using the computer right now, is everything doing ok, running fine, ect and so forth, but once the scans are ran this is when your problems happen?

I like to see if we double checked all options before going futher. I know this is taking time buy trying to nail down this problem.

1. Yes there were no problems with the scans until that day.

2. Not sure really, I leave windows on auto update so maybe there was a bad update (I will check in a second). So far as IE7 is concerned, it was slow and non reponsive and I wanted to start using Mozilla anyway, I had actually been using it for a while before this happened. But then it started acting just like IE7. So I ran the scan and it would not get past that file.

3. No, McAfee runs fine other than what the current problem is.

4.Yes everything is going fine right now other than the scan. However I tried using a different scan recently to see what would happen, and it paused too on ieui.dll.

Okay so I looked at my updates and I found a few on 6/22/2010, and this is the most important one, so I thought I should post it because I started having trouble a few days later:

Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1, Windows Vista SP2, and Windows Server 2008 SP2 Update x86 (KB982525)

Installation date: ‎6/‎22/‎2010 1:07 PM

Installation status: Successful

Update type: Important

This update addresses a set of known issues of the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1. After you install this item, you may have to restart your computer.

More information:
http://go.microsoft..../?LinkId=190849

Help and Support:
http://support.microsoft.com

I will now look for more updates. Thanks again for your help.
Hey hey, a hymn to humanity, love has gone people, are you worried?

Your responce:

I will now look for more updates. Thanks again for your help.

Please let me know if you done this and if anymore updates were found, I ran several test on my Vista System and when I went the normal way (auto updates) it reported no new updates were found, but when I clicked on the link in the upper left corner it downloaded 35 megs of more updates.

This is why I am asking for you to try this. Again NP, trying to see if we can fix this problem of yours.

Yes please keep clicking on the link in the upper left corner, just letting the auto update run for some stange reason reports back none, but clicking on the link a few time keeps reporting back new updates found. Just keep at it till no more are found and then let me know.

Okay I have checked quite a lot for updates, with nothing new. I recently got an email from Microsoft (didn't even think I would hear from them) about the issue and they suggested I run the following: System File Checker AKA SFC.exe Now I am not sure if I should or not, but what do you think? They said to open Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator. Then type the following command, and then press ENTER: sfc /scannow

Read over this info to understand what that command does after reading go ahead and run the command to see what it does.

Hey My name is cameron, the only thing i could tell you to do after reading all of the posts on there, is to do a system recovery. do you know how to do that? if not you just go to start - accessories - system tools - system recovery next select the date closest to the last time it was working. and follow the steps there after. if it continues to do it. then i would go into boot options by pressing F8 in the boot process and clicking on boot from last know good configuratiion and yet again if that doesnt work then i would lastly tell you it may be a lost cause and you may need to reinstall windows onto your computer. let me know how it works out for you and if anything else pops up let me know i will continue to try to figure something out for you. i just got out of college for computer specialist so i have a knowledge of these things. just let me know.

Okay so I did the scan and this is what came up: Beginning system scan. This process will take some time. Beginning verification phase of system scan. Verification 100% complete. Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example: C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.Log That was what was written in the Administrator Command Prompt I have been unable to access the log, as every time I try it says I am not allowed -_- even though I am doing it as the admin. So I ran notepad as an admin, and it stopped responding when I tried to open it. Any thoughts so I can get that log?

 Yeah so... I got the log.... but it is way way too big to post, if fact when I tried copy and past it did not work. Not only that but now Fire Fox is on the fritz, so it only is working in safe mode. But that is not a huge problem, however how do a post such a huge log? Just an FYI I put it in word, and so far the pages are 16,336 so there is no way I am going to post that here. Any thing I should look for?

you know what i am going to be completely honest with you.
thats how i would have done it..look at the log.
however im not completely sure what you are looking at so i cant help you there. the easiest way i could think of is to recover your system back to the manufacturer's state (when done it would be the same as when you bought it) you lose your data as far as pictures and music and documents go, but sometimes you have to take the loss to get your CPU up and running again.

in order to do this, do you still have the cd that came with your computer? if so then you can put that in and restart your computer. make sure you have your boot options configured so your computer loads off of your cd rom/dvd drive
and then when the screen pops up there is an option at the bottom that says "fix repairs"
click that and then there is a option "system recovery"
and in there, there should be an option to recover your whole computer
if not then just re install windows on the computer manually by yet again using that disc and use the steps to install the OS (operating system)
if you have any other questions you can mail me personally. i would love to help any other way that i can

EDITED by paws..email address and telephone number removed.......please keep all comments/advice in open forum.... thanks

@CPU_TECHIE I've edited out your telephone number and email address from the above post to protect you........its not a good idea to reveal this type of information in open forums.......unfortunately there are too many bad folks around who might want to use it for bad purposes. Regards paws

Look at the date on the left of each entry. The only ones you are interested in are the ones for the day you ran SFC, which would be yesterday, 2010-08-08. Select and Copy those from Word and paste into a notepad window. Save as Nman-sfcrun.txt, then if it's still large, zip it and then if it's small enough, upload here as an attachment.

Use the buttons below the input area to do this. How to upload an Image into your Thread, Windows Made Easy. That tutorial is for a picture but the same steps apply to any file.

Okay I attached the relevant log, or I hope I did, lol. Thanks for your help. And CPU TECHIE I really don't want to just erase all of my data just so I can run a virus scan. If nothing works, then I will just have to let it go, I have too much data that I really can't afford to lose, and I do make back up and restore disks, but not every time I do something. So I really won't be doing that, sorry.
