What is the make and model number of the new dongle? Maybe there is a support forum for it online?

Thank you.

It is generic version made for a local electronics retailer. It came with a  disc

Harmony driver. The same one you had me download. Nothing else is available.

My question-------Task bar Bluetooth symbol is visible, when I click it takes to

a folder named My Bluetooth devices and says Folder is empty!!! When I

click on Add bluetooth device,it shows the dongle as Other Devices and does

not connect. This is the real puzzle.

Please note,I am Not computer literate and at 72 find it difficult to learn new

tricks.

Thank you.

I have no Bluetooth device and have never connected one to my PC so I'm totally in the dark on this one. I'm just going by what I can find doing Google searches. I don't know what else you can do.

Maybe try a Linux Live distro (disc or flash drive) and see if you can get it to work there? That will at least tell you if the hardware itself is still good.

Thank you. I tried to boot from Ubuntu and Mintlinux disks. Problem----on reboot pc simply ignores the disks and then shows all the files

on the disk. Used F1 key to get into Bios settings to make it boot from dvd drive. Something new comes up which says a lot about Legacy and UEFI

but does not provide an option like in old bios to boot first from the dvd drive.

I am using  Lenevo  K450.

Any thoughts?

I also have a Lenovo K450. Press F12 when you start which will bring up the one time boot menu where you should be able to select the DVD drive to boot from.

If that doesn't work then you need to enable CSM and turn off Secure Boot I BIOS believe, try F12 again.

Ztruker: First and foremost, Thank you for the time and effort you have spent on this.

After trying everything without success I started to read comments of buyers in

Holland. In almost 99% of buyers, they complained that the dongles do not

work with win 10. Very many different makes.

In most cases sellers say it will not work with Linux but all say it will work with

win 7/8/10!!!!!!

In my case it did work pre 1803.

I do have an old refurbished lenovo think centre. I am using killdisk to erase

everything and then install win7 from disk (Paid for ). Is there a way to make sure

win does Not update to win10?

I can not think of anything else. Can this be reported to MS so they find a solution.

System does recognize dongle as a radio and CSR8510 A10 is the description of

the chipset.

When system says Bluetooth device is it refering to the dongle or the headphones?

Hope this gets sorted out.

There is no forced update of Windows 7 to Windows 10 any more so that will not be a problem.

If the dongle is new, return it and look for one that really does work with Windows 10.

Alternatively, contact the manufacturer and ask them to fix it since they say it works with Windows 10.

Not any more. When Win 10 was first released, there were some forced updates but that's been over for a couple years now. You can still do a free upgrade to Win 10 but you have to initiate the action.

Once you install Win 7, you need to install SP1 if it's not already included, then there are 182+ updates, then a few more so it's along, slow road before you get to a finished Win 7 newly installed system.

If you want to speed up the process, you can download and install the Convenience Rollup. See here: Convenience rollup update for Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1
That requires you to install the Servicing Stack update first which is included in the link.

Once they are installed and you rebooted, do another check for updates and you'll get about 40 more updates that you need to download and install via Windows Update. Then you're done.

You should check the Bluetooth dongle as soon as possible to see if it works with Win 7, before doing any of the updates if possible.

Success  on Win 10 !!!!!!! However the plot thickens.

Installed win7 offline.Plugged the dongle, windows installed Driver dated 2006(its own)

In devices & printers etc it clearly shows Phillips SHB7250. However does not transmit

audio. Do not know how to make it happen.

I deleted Harmony driver from Win10 and then plugged the dongle which showed

up in devices. Then it took about a second to connect.

I am truly grateful for all the time and effort you have provided.Thank you If you have time could you please tell

me how to make audio transmission in Win7? Please.

All I can suggest is to look at their SUpport page, check the documentation.

Did you successfully pair the headset to the dongle?
