Have another look at the "spelling"

Type in the following command in the command prompt and press Enter.

netsh int ip reset reset.log - Press - Enter

Then also type the following command and hit enter.

netsh winsock reset catalog - Press - Enter

Same response as in the error involving "netish"

Microsoft Windows [Version 6.0.6002]
Copyright © 2006 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

C:\Users\Tej>netish int ip reset reset.log
'netish' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.

C:\Users\Tej>netish winsock reset catalog
'netish' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.

C:\Users\Tej>

If so please try again, with attention to spelling and spacing.

Should be "netsh" not "netish"

Run each command separately, allowing reboot after each. Don't forget to run command prompt as - run as administrator, for the second command

Thanks in advance to all of those who are giving my situation a thought,

Basically I'm using a desktop computer and before a month ago it could connect to my wireless network downstairs, I don't know what has happened but now it won't find the router even if i bring it 2 feet away. As a temp solution, I am using a netgear adapter to solve the issue. The problem being is that it keeps disconnecting and I'm beginning to get sick of it.

info:
Windows: Vista SP2
2 year old computer.
Virus free,,,
NETGEAR WG111v3 54Mbps Wireless USB 2.0 Adapter (Adapter)
Realtek 8185 Extensible 802.11b/g Wireless Device

I appreciate your time.

Tej

Just a thought about your Netgear wireless adapter... "if" you use a hand-held portable cordless telephone in your home, it also broadcasts and receives on 2.4 mHz band. Use of the cordless phone is a known problem for wireless G routers/wireless networks, and may be the cause of your periodic loss of connection. But, yeah I know... That doesn't solve your other primary problem. Still thinking/researching....

Have you tried moving the USB connector to a different port on the Desktop computer? Unplug it, wait 20 seconds or so then plug it into a different USB connector. See what happens.

the usb is not a problem. It is only a temp solution, before the USB i could connect to the network through my built in wireless drive.

Never mind, that's for a laptop.
