Did you connect to the TV using the VGA-DVI and DVI-HDMI adapters?

Okay, right. I'll have to do a bit of research. It should theoretically work, and there is a third part cable available which has the same combination of adapters. A lot of the reviews mention having to change some specific options to get it to work properly. I'll do a bit of digging to find out which settings you have to change. I'll post back when I've found them.

Okay, it seems that the PS3 uses something called HDCP (High Definition Content Protection). Essentially it's there to protect the signal and requires your monitor to send back a confirmation that the signal is secure. So...it's possible that your monitor doesn't support HDCP, or that the PS3 isn't outputting the signal through the HDMI cable. You can fix the latter by holding the power button for about 5-7 seconds. It will beep 3 times, and then it will automatically output the signal through HDMI. Try that, and let me know how it goes. I'll keep doing a bit of research.

Okay i recently just got the playstation 3 and tried to connect it to my Acer x193w monitor and its not working. Anyone think they can help? My monitor has a vga so i used a vga to dvi adapter and an dvi to hdmi adapter. I connected it to a tv with the red yellow and white cables and it worked. I had the monitor connected at the time with the hdmi cable plugged in. The ps3 detected that there was a hdmi device ready and when it switched nothing came up on the screen of m ymonitor.

if i'm understanding this correctly, your monitor only accepts vga input, but you've put two adaptors together to make it into an hdmi connection, correct?

i don't think this will work because hdmi is a digital signal and vga is an analog signal,
your monitor only supports analog input signals so can not read the digital signal output from the ps3 through hdmi.

may be wrong tho,

to be honest the only way i think it will work is if you had an extra piece of hardware inbetween both devices that would convert the digital hdmi signal from the ps3 back into an analog signal before being passed to the monitor, or get a monitor with at least a dvi connection(will read both, digital and analog signals).

this i think is what you'll need, but like i said earlier may be wrong so wait for Nahumi to reply or another tech with a little bit more understanding of these things than me, before buying such a device.

here's a review of said device ;- http://www.dcemu.co....o-RGB-Converter

In any case, would this device help me run the ps3 on my monitor?

http://www.amazon.co...-...7390&sr=1-3

I know it's not HD then but at this point of the game, i'll be grateful if the ps3 runs on my monitor at all!

I won't buy anything yet though.

Edit: This is of course only for the Video. I already planned to obtain audio via adapters connecting the red and white cables to a different adapter and connecting that to a computer speaker
