I had a request to allow a Java update, which I allowed. Then computer began operating slower, rendered Yahoo mail non functional and probably other issues I am unaware of so far–but I can tell it will get worse quickly. The mail acct is important for my work so this is super sucky.

this is a repost. it took a while for the initial response and I was away before topic was closed; so I have added the DDS requested info.

My name is Tomk. I would be glad to take a look at your log and help you with solving any malware problems. HijackThis logs can take a while to research, so please be patient and I'd be grateful if you would note the following:

I will be working on your Malware issues, this may or may not, solve other issues you have with your machine.
The fixes are specific to your problem and should only be used for the issues on this machine.
Please continue to review my answers until I tell you your machine appears to be clear. Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear.

Please download JavaRa (Copyright © 2008 RaProducts.org) and unzip it to your desktop.
***Please close any instances of Internet Explorer before continuing!***
Print these instructions…you won't have Internet access during this particular phase!

Double-click on JavaRa.exe to start the program.
From the drop-down menu, choose English or the appropriate language…and click on Select.
JavaRa will open; click on Remove Older Versions to remove the older versions of Java installed on your computer.
Click Yes when prompted. When JavaRa is done, a notice will appear that a logfile has been produced. Click OK.
A logfile will pop up. Please save it to a convenient location.
Copy and paste the contents of the JavaRa log, in your next reply.

Download Rooter.exe to your desktop

Then doubleclick it to start the tool
A Notepad file containing the report will open, also found at %systemdrive%\Rooter.txt. Post that here

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
Download - ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.

(If you use FireFox or the Opera browser
To keep saved passwords, click No at the prompt.)

It's normal after running ATF cleaner that the PC will be slower to boot the first time or two.

Then

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop.

Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
Once the program has loaded, select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.
When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location and post the results.
Note: If you receive a notice that some of the items couldn't be removed, that they have been added to the delete on reboot list, please reboot (shut down your computer then restart it).

Also "copy/paste" a new HijackThis log file into this thread.

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.

Thanks for your help. Concerning the computer behavior overall, it is still slower but I had restricted some services with my firewall and that helped. The logs you requested below.

Close all programs except for HijackThis.
Click on Fix checked
A box will pop up asking you if you wish to fix the selected items. Please choose YES.
Once it has fixed them, please exit/close HijackThis.

Then

Please go to Kaspersky website and perform an online antivirus scan.

Read through the requirements and privacy statement and click on Accept button.
It will start downloading and installing the scanner and virus definitions. You will be prompted to install an application from Kaspersky. Click Run.
When the downloads have finished, click on Settings.
Make sure these boxes are checked (ticked). If they are not, please tick them and click on the Save button:
- Spyware, Adware, Dialers, and other potentially dangerous programs
  Archives
  Mail databases
Click on My Computer under Scan.
Once the scan is complete, it will display the results. Click on View Scan Report.
You will see a list of infected items there. Click on Save Report As….
Save this report to a convenient place. Change the Files of type to Text file (.txt) before clicking on the Save button.

Thanks, I have a few questions first. 1) For those O4 categories, some of them relate to software I use, like Scan Soft is for an ip fax service. What will happen when those prompts are removed? I tried removing Quicktime before and it disabled Itunes. Will Itunes still function if this prompt is removed? 2) There is a pathway I have my firewall blocking, otherwise CPU operates task at 100% usage. It is application 'Java™ Platform SE binary', and has full path C:\PROGRAM FILES\JAVA\JRE6\BIN\JUSCHED.EXE Thanks for you help

The item you are blocking is a similiar entry for your Java. It's sole purpose for existance is to tell you when there is an update to Java. You can check for updates on your own so you don't need it. Clint,

Log looks good

You need to create a new Clean restore point.
Click Start Menu > Run > copy and paste

%SystemRoot%\System32\restore\rstrui.exe

Press OK. Choose Create a Restore Point then click Next. Name it (something you'll remember) and click Create, when the confirmation screen shows the restore point has been created click Close.

Remove all previous Restore Points
Click Start Menu > Run > copy and paste

cleanmgr

At top, click on More Options tab. Click Clean up… button in the System Restore box. Click on Yes button. When finished, click on Cancel button to exit.

Double-click My Computer.
Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.
Click the View tab.
Check "Hide file extensions for known file types."
Under the "Hidden files" folder, Uncheck "Show hidden files and folders."
Check "Hide protected operating system files."
Click Apply, and then click OK.
