TomK,

I've try to run Kaspersky twice but it stalls at 84% after running for 2 hours and a half or so. I believe this happened the first time coz it still shows the three threats and eleven infected files. I even turned off antivirus, firewall and anti-spyware before running my last scan, and the same happened. Im attcahing a screen shot of the window.

The Hijack log here is from after rebooting just before posting this reply.

Thanks.

oreofudge,

Let's run a different online scan then.

I need you to run the following scan: Eset Online Scanner

  • Place a check mark in the box YES, I accept the Terms Of Use
  • Click the Start button.
  • Now click the Install button.
  • Click Start. The scanner engine will initialize and update.
  • Do Not place a check mark in the box beside Remove found threats.
  • Click the Scan button. The scan will now run, please be patient.
  • When the scan finishes click the Details tab.
  • Copy and paste the contents of the C:\ProgramFiles\EsetOnlineScanner\log.txt into your next reply.
oreofudge,

Well then I guess it's time to stop torturing you.

Log looks good :D

Time for some housekeeping
  • Click START then RUN
  • Now type Combofix /u in the runbox and click OK
  • Note the space between the X and the U, it needs to be there.
  • [external image: Posted Image]
The above procedure will:
  • Implement some cleanup procedures.
  • Reset System Restore.

Please re-enable any security that was disabled.

The following is my standard advice for the future. Use what you can and pat yourself on the back for what you're already doing.

Please take time to read Preventing Malware - Tools and Practices for Safe Computing. Very important information for your consideration is contained therein.

I would also suggest you read this:
So how did I get infected in the first place?

Please respond back that you understand the above and let me know if you have any questions. Otherwise, this thread will be closed Resolved.
TomK, Ok, did as suggested, but just to make sure, I have the following installed: Windows Defender; AVG; Online Armor; Spywareblaster; Spybot Search and Destroy; Advanced System Care 3; Malwarebyte's Anti-malware; and downloaded but have't installed yet ZonedOut. Would these be more than enough?
Great, will do. Overall, it seems to be starting up and running a bit faster, and safer I'm sure, but will have to look into what apps are starting up, in order to disable the unnecessary ones and gain more start up speed. Thanks!
oreofudge,

I would further suggest that you also read this tutorial on slow running computers
and Help! My computer is slow! by miekiemoes.

Any more questions?
