I randomly get these blue screens of death when I start up my computer. Some times my pc will operate fine then randomly it will show these blue screens of death. As far as I can remeber I only saw two yet: something like IRQL not less or equal and Bad Pool Header. Please help me out because I do not want to buy another pc. I have removed all my games and everything for this pc as I am heading off to college and will be using my laptop now. This desktop is just used by parents to check their emails and that is literally it. Hope you can help me out! Here is my Hijack This Log:

Welcome back pjbipirate,

This may not be a malware problem but let's see what we can find.

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
Download - ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.

(If you use FireFox or the Opera browser
To keep saved passwords, click No at the prompt.)

It's normal after running ATF cleaner that the PC will be slower to boot the first time or two.

Then

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop.

  • Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
  • At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location and post the results.
  • Note: If you receive a notice that some of the items couldn't be removed, that they have been added to the delete on reboot list, please reboot (shut down your computer then restart it).
Also "copy/paste" a new HijackThis log file into this thread.

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.
Hello Tomk,

Sorry for the late reply. Just another update, a couple of days ago either after shutting down my pc or after starting up my pc, the blue screen of death popped up saying something like bad pool header. When I restarted the pc, i got a little message saying your system has recovered from a serious error. Besides this, the pc is absolutely fine.

Here is the Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware log:

pjbipirate,

Unfortunately, I haven't found the source of your problem. Let's dig a little deeper.

Download ComboFix from one of these locations:

Link 1
Link 2
Link 3

* IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop

  • Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools. If you have difficulty properly disabling your protective programs, refer to this link –> http://forums.whatthetech.com/How_Disable_…ams_t96260.html

  • Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.

  • As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.

  • Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.

**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:

Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.

When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.

Notes:

1. Do not mouse-click Combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.
2. Do not "re-run" Combofix. If you have a problem, reply back for further instructions.
3. ComboFix may reset a number of Internet Explorer's settings, including making I-E the default browser.
4. Combofix prevents autorun of ALL CD, floppy and USB devices to assist with malware removal & increase security. If this is an issue or makes it difficult for you – please tell your helper.
5. CF disconnects your machine from the internet. The connection is automatically restored before CF completes its run. If CF runs into difficulty and terminates prematurely, the connection can be manually restored by restarting your machine.
Hello Tomk, Didnt get a chance to follow up on your recent instructions but I just wanted to make you aware of something. My pc will not shut down. When i try to shut it down via turn off from the start menu, nothing happens. So for right now, I am going to shut my pc down by manually holding the power button of the tower until my pc turns off. Until today, it was shutting down alright I believe. Should I consider doing like a system restore to an earlier point or something? Thanks, pjbipirate
pjbipirate, You can consider it, but I suggest that you don't do it until we see if we can get you straightened out. We won't remove your restore points.
