Since I updated my microsoft office to the 2007 version, my computer has been lagging. Like when I'm playing music on iTunes, it would have this staticky noise. It also does the noise when I'm on yahoo messenger. I have also noticed that my computer starts up really slow compared to before I updated my microsoft office. Can anyone help me out. Please -__-
Hi bhiee2,

We cannot help you here until you are given the all clear from Noviciate who is helping you in the HJT forum. Please reply to the post as requested.

When you have the all clear in the Malware Forum, please feel free to post back into this thread for further assistance if needed.

kind regards,
i've been cleared by noviciate =) and i'm still having the same problem… slow computer… everytime i play a video or music… it's like it is being dragged and i hear a kind of staticky noise…
i've done the steps on the link that you gave, but i'm still having the same problem. whenever i play music or watch videos, the sound is being dragged and is like at slow motion. i also noticed that the programs i'm running freeze when i'm defragmenting. any help?
Hi
I just taken a quick a look at your HJT log files over in the malware removal forums.

1 are you still running old and vulnerable versions of Java ( Incl Java Run time Environment?
2 you can check this in Start>Control Panel>add and Remove Programs > and look for Java……There should only be one item and that is Version 6 update 11…all others should be uninstalled
3 You say:

the programs i'm running freeze when i'm defragmenting.

Please note it is best to have NO PROGRAMS at all running whilst you are using the Windows defragger

i've removed the other versions of java that i had in my computer when they had me remove programs/software that i don't use anymore. that's when i noticed i had 3 java, so i took them out.
Hi :wavey:

Just a little thought

Since I updated my microsoft office to the 2007 version

When you updated to the 2007 version, did you just write over the excisting version at the
time? If yes, uninstalling it, and then install a pure version 2007 might solve your problem.

that's what i did, because when i tried to just overwrite it, it would not allow me.
but anyways, i researched some answer on the net and i found one that works.
here's the link….

it worked, but i'm worried if this is safe for my computer
tnx! ^^

Hi

Re-installing your IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers are no problem with regards to your computer's health.
Lots of other solutions to different problems sometimes requires re-installment of various controllers,
USB controllers a prime example, when a USB or External HD won't work properly. So no worries.

Glad you got it figured out

Regards Abydos
