My friends lappy had outdated McAfee security suite, SpybotSD, and Windows Defender. I uninstalled McAfee and SSD. I installed Eset Smart Security and updated WindowsDefender. Then it wouldn't restart. it gave the \Boot\BCD error. After booting from the Vista DVD and running the auto startup repair it worked. Then I ran an ESET scan. It found 4 instances of GetCodec.C and 2 of GetCodec.gen. These were from Limewire, and it cleaned them off. Limewire had already been uninstalled before I first worked on the computer. After running microsoft updates, it failed to boot again. Same startup repair sequence, and it booted. Then I followed the procedure on this forum. Logs follow. I am waiting until I am reasonably sure it is clean before I install any more MS updates

DO NOT use any TOOLS such as Combofix, Vundofix, or HijackThis fixes without supervision.

Doing so could make your pc inoperatible and could require a full reinstall of your OS, losing all your programs and data.

You need to copy/paste those logs.
Don't attach them.
OK, I didn't see instructions to paste it in. I know some forums prefer it attached so it doesn't throw off google indexing. I greatly appreciate your help
