[Closed] Generic! Artemis

McAfee detected Generic! Artemis yesterday, and I downloaded and ran Malwarebytes. Then I remembered System Restore and Desktop Doctor might cause a problem by preserving the bad file, so yesterday was a scan-athon. Malwarebyes has quarrantined two instances of the trojan (the original and from System Restore), and I am clean when I run it today. McAfee detected it again this morning, so maybe I'm not clean. Who should I believe? I *joined* the McAfee Support Forums but couldn't understand their directions on how to send a sample to them. Did I mention I'm a homemaker and no IT? TIA for any help you can give.

I forgot to mention that I was having no particular problems with my computer. I just did a manual scan with McAfee, this AM, and it is clean, so I assume all is well. Unless you see something alarming in my HJT, I consider this issue closed. Thanks. :)

Apologies in the delay in a response. We are overwhelmed with logs at the moment and there aren't enough helpers to go around. If you still require help, please do the following:

Please download DDS and save it to your desktop.
  • Disable any script blocking protection
  • Double click dds.scr to run the tool.
  • When done, DDS.txt will open.
  • Click Yes at the next prompt for Optional Scan.
  • Save both reports to your desktop.

  • Post the contents of the DDS.txt report in your next reply
  • Attach the Attach.txt report to your post by scroling down to the Attachments area and then clicking Browse. Browse to where you saved the file, and click Open and then click UPLOAD.
