when i would go to google and search anything, the topics would come up fine, but when i clicked on them, i would get redirected to a number of different stuff.

I downloaded super anti-spyware after i reformatted my harddrive and it seemed to fix the problem at first, but now some windows updates won't install, windows media player won' t upgrade. i've tried to download avg free, and it tells me that the file is corrupt. so i tried to download it on my roomates computer and then move it to mine via thumb drive, but that didn't work either.

i have attached my hijackthis log.

any help would be great thanks!

i've been running avg up untill i reformatted my hard drive on 1-2. and now when i try to download it, it will download in IE but not with firefox, then when i try to install it, my comp gives me an error message. something about a corrupt file.
I can see from your log that you have at least two malicious files present on your machine, there may be others. The problems you have are presumably a result of putting the PC back online without an active anti-virus present, which is never recommended. I can't tell from your log what effects these files have had on your Operating System, it's files and registry entries and settings. You can see for yourself some of what had occurred, but there may be other issues that have yet to become apparent. As such my best advice to you is to get hold of installation files for both an anti-virus and firewall, reformat and reinstall your OS and both security programs before going back online. To do anything else won't guarantee a clean PC or a problem-free one.
the problem occurred before i reformatted, thats why i reformatted, thinking it would get rid of it apparently not. by searching the net, i think the infections are: C:\WINDOWS\system32\baloon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\cfrog.exe are you familiar??
They are the two files I identified. If these are the cause of your problems then there are a number of possibilities: 1) You reinfected the PC with something you backed up before reformatting. 2) You managed to pick up the same infection again. 3) A reformat didn't kill it. I figure that 1 is more likely, 2 would be a big coincidence unless you surfed somewhere before and after reformatting that dropped this slime on your PC and 3 is a little too scary for my liking. The only other alternative I can think of depends on you using a router to connect to the internet. Do you?
It's likely then that the router has been hijacked and it is this that is redirecting your surfing. You will need to reset the router and then reconfigure it to get back online. There should be a recessed button on the bottom that you can stick a pin in to wipe it back to factory settings. You will need to make sure that you have all the information necessary to access your ISP before you do that though. There may be a backup facility that you can access through the router software that could be useful. If you export your router settings as a file and save it on a PC and things don't go according to plan, you can import this file and get back online. You'll still have the redirection issues, but you will internet access all the same. I still recommend reformatting and reinstalling your OS to clean it up and getting some proper security installed before going back online. I can let you have some links to free firewall programs if you like.
if the router had been hijacked then looks like to me that the other computers would have the same issues i am having, because i was running avg when i became infected.
between post i deleted the two malicious files, and the annoyances stopped, but i am still unable to download programs and install windows security updates
Then you simply managed to pick up the same nasty you had before you reformatted - either you're just unlucky, or you need to change your surfing habits. If AVG didn't block the slime, then you might like to take a peek at AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic :available here, or avast! 4 Home Edition: available here. Both are free.
I'm afraid my advice is still the same with regard to your OS. Whether there is still something on your system or something has been corrupted by the two files you have deleted, I can't say.
ok i reformatted again, and tried to install avg. computer told me file was corrupt.
tried to download avast! and when it finised downloading and tried to install windows told me there was a problem with the file and it would not install..
but hijackthis downloaded fine, and here is a new log

thanks

Given the problem is occurring after a fresh install i'd have to say that the problem is unlikely to be malware, which leaves me of very little use to you. There are very few nasties that can survive a reformat and, although boot sector viruses can, they tend to only be found in history books now.
My best advice is to post your problem here: http://forums.whatthetech.com/Microsoft_Windows_f119.html where somebody may be of more help.
