When I booted my computer this evening it had a checksum error, first time ever. I pressed F1 to continue and all started OK.

Regards.

I chacked some files and the following message box appeared on screen:

What exactly were you doing to these files and what files were they that you were doing these things to.
I was exploring 'Document an Setting' and moving photo's around, from file to file, occasionally opening the photo's up by double clicking. Nothing out of the unusual.
If this file still exists, delete it manually: C:\Documents and Settings\GusFox\cle1.exc
Then run a full MBAM scan and let me have the log produced.
Finally let me have a fresh HJT log.
The file C:\Documents and Settings\GusFox\cle1.exc could not be found on either the C:\ or D:\ drives.
While I was running MBAM the following appeared:

Regards.
Under Norton AntiVirus, Reports I have three files: \Quarantined Items (0) \Backup Items (42) \Submitted to Symantec (0) The bottom left comment on the page with the Backup Items says "This is an infected back-up copy of repaired items". Does this help? 42 Files in the Backup Items.
Something that I didn't notice earlier is that your copy of Norton Anti-Virus shows as the 2003 version. Does this still actively update or has the subscription elapsed?
