When his PC boots (before clicking on anything) he gets the following messages/erros
an error window appear "Yuk : runtime error 70 permission denied"
Nortans message that says it has detected and removed a virus infostealer
XP message that Autoupdates has been turned off etc… (thanks to the trojan - I found the batch that changed the registry and did change it back however, I have managed to still miss the main bugger that is triggering everything from the start)
Looking at task manager there is a bunch of unreadable applications running (along with the Nortons and Yuk error windows)… If you go to their processes the are things like naxmgr.exe, svnmgr.exe, msmp3.exe etc….
You can kill these applications/processes and they appear to disappear and not regenerate until the PC is restarted again..
Anyway here is the current Hijackthis log

4. We then removed the files that had been created (ie naxmgr.exe from the file sytem) and the "run" entries in the registry but I have still missed the main culprit… As after a restart - they all managed to appear again..
I do have a technical background and have removed trojans before but I usually have the infected PC in front of me - this one is in another state and I have wasted enough time trying the old manual way of removing these things and thought it was time to try some expert help with people who are dealing with this stuff all the time…
Any help during this busy festive season will be appreciated..
