To all who may offer help, thank you. I've never used a forum before, so please forgive me if I put too much information or not enough.

I am running Windows Vista Home Premium x64 on a Dell XPS 600, Intel 3.46 GHz quad core with 8GB RAM, and 1TB of storage. I have updated all Windows security patches as of today. I run Norton 360, again updated and recently run a full system scan. I also installed and ran Ad-Aware Plus with all current updates, where it found win32.trojanpws.mapper and win32.backdoor.bedienks. It seems to have removed them both. I am still having problems so I installed Hijack This and will paste the log file. I installed ERUNT, and created a backup registry today. I've been experiencing this problem for about a month now.

My problem is the PC will freeze up every few minutes for anywhere from a few seconds to about a minute. The entire system freezes, I'm not able to do anything, no animations will run, the keyboard is frozen, the CPU monitor stops, the mouse won't move. I think you get the idea. I've looked online for clues, and found your site. I hope you can help me. The only thing I can think of to do now is format the drive and start over. Not the best option, but if there is no other solution I will certainly do it.

Please let me know if I need to provide any further information. Here is the log file:

My name is BHowett and I will be helping you to get sorted. If for any reason you do not understand any of the instructions, or are just unsure then please do not guess , simply post back with your question, and we will go through it again.

Sorry for the delay, please do the following…

ComboFix

Please ownload ComboFix from Here or Here

* IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop

  • Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools. Note: If you are having difficulty properly disabling your protective programs, or are unsure as to what programs need to be disabled, please refer to the information available through this link : Protective Programs
  • Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.
  • As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.
  • Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.

**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

[external image: Posted Image]

Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:

[external image: Posted Image]

Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.

When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt, and a fresh Hijackthis log in your next reply.

Do not mouse-click Combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.
Thank you for your reply. I have downloaded and run Combofix, but it will not install. It says it is for Windows 2000 and XP only. I am running Vista Home Premium x64. If you have any suggestions I am more than willing to try them. I've become so frustrated with this thing, I can't stand it. I can barely use it, as it freezes so often now. Thanks again, Robert
Hi rwalloway,

Don't worry there is other ways we can work around….please do the following…

Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here or Here

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
  • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply.
Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediatly.

===============================================

And lets take a deeper look at some things…

RSIT
  • Download random's system information tool (RSIT) by random/random from here.
  • It is important that is saved to your desktop.
  • Double click on RSIT.exe to run RSIT.
  • Click Continue at the disclaimer screen.
  • Once it has finished, two logs will open. Please post the contents of both log.txt (<info.txt (<

===============================================

Needed in the next reply:

Malwarebytes log
RSIT logs

Also let me know how things are running
Hello BHowett,

Thank you again for your assistance. Here are the logs……….really big logs!! My system is still freezing up, doesn't seem the one infection removed helped. Thank you again, and I await your response. Although I suspect it will take some time to go through these logs.

Sincerely, Robert

hi rwalloway,

Your logs aren’t looking that bad I am beginning to think that the freezing up problem is not malware related, but lets see what we can find.

wow… sorry about that wait, but I really like using Kapersky it does a pretty through job.

C:\Program Files (x86)\DERescue Data Recovery Master\DERescue.exe appears to be a legit data recovery program, do you use it? Other then that your looking clean, are you still having any problems?
Hello again BHowett, I haven't used "DERescue Data Recovery" in awhile, so I can uninstall it. I'm still getting some freezing, so far it doesn't seem as bad. I appreciate all you have done to help me. If we can't find a reason I'll just format and start over. I hate to do it, but I hate the freezing more! As for the long Kapersky scan, it might have been due to the constant freezing, it was getting pretty terrible. I've only been on for about 30 minutes so far today, so I can't give a great assessment yet. It seems to get worse the longer I've been on. Thanks again, Robert
Hi Robert,

Lets not give up yet … I only specialize in malware removal, so please post about your problem here in the Microsoft Windows forum, and give the Techs a chance to take a look at things. Just let them know you were cleared of malware and post a link to this topic so they can see what we have done.

Also I will continue to monitor your topic until we can get it resolved
Thank you BHowett, I will post to the Windows forum and link to here. I appreciate all your assistance. I am very grateful for all you've done for me. Thank you very much, Robert
