seems i'm not out of the clear…

you know those little graphics/icons in the browser bar (like a ? in this forum)? well i've got a suspicious smile icon in my yahoo e-mail which was never there. and i'm getting weird scroll down menu options in yahoo's browser.

also, spyware doctor just detected 23 bad files, including 3 "medium level" trojans. this after you thumbs-upped the previous logs.

(also got a spammy email "your credit union has been compromised" after donating to you—and yes, i use a credit union.)

here's the highjackthis log:

also, spyware doctor just detected 23 bad files, including 3 "medium level" trojans. this after you thumbs-upped the previous logs.

Where does it show them located?

(also got a spammy email "your credit union has been compromised" after donating to you—and yes, i use a credit union.)

Who was the sender of that?
I just looked at my PayPal account and I can see your donation. So as far as I can tell that went OK. Thanks for that.
i've deleted the quarantined files so i don't know where they were located. i spammed the e-mail so i don't know where sent from; although i will change my bank's passwords…sigh… i'm noticing that that browser icon thing is acting funny on different websites: the icons for previously visited sites are showing up on sites i'm currently looking at. for example now, where there was a ? last time i logged in, there's a "ch" graphic now. at least ie is running good, no more system error box. i'm just paranoid about this other stuff.
Did you do this?

  • Click START then RUN
  • Now type Combofix /u in the runbox and click OK. Note the space between the X and the U, it needs to be there.

    • [external image: Posted Image]

That should have removed all the bad guys and created a clean restore point.

You can remove these leftover files and folders if listed:
    C:\ComboFix
    C:\QooBox
    C:\combofix.txt
    C:\combofix-quarantine-files.txt
i found and deleted a combo.txt file in c drive and on desktop. deleted/empty recycle bin. could not see the other files…do i go search/file name/all files and folders/ to find files? i notice when searching it says "not searching hidden files and folders." combofix and qoobox did not appear using this method anyway. thanks—i'm still getting that "virus looking" browser graphic in my e-mail. actually, ie icon appears briefly, then this dark smile appears. very creepy. other than that, all seems to be running good.
i seemed to have restored proper favicons by deleting all yahoo links in favorites. perhaps this bug was lurking there from previous infections? full system scan reveals 0 infections, so that's good!

Could have been leftover.

Looks like your're good to go
